Between one thing and another, Kate had never actually watched a live episode of the TV show Bow Arrow.  But she had downloaded all the previous episodes and watched them on her laptop.  Just for professional curiosity, you know.  Someone was making a TV show about a superhero with a bow!  It was almost required she watch.

...and he was really, really hot in the training montages that showed up in almost every episode.  Yeah, she totally watched this for the plot.

"Even Locating Meeno?" Topher countered. "It's a really good movie."

Kate wrinkled her nose. "How about Bilo and Smitch."

That had fish in it somewhere, right?

"Please." Topher raised his eyebrows. "There is no contest between that and Meeno. I mean, not that I've seen it. But it seems obvious."

"Yeah, one's awesome and one's about fish," Kate smirked.

"You are a weird girl and I do not understand you," Topher informed Kate from the kitchen. "I bet you're going to tell me you hate The Tiger Monarch, too."

"Please. I'd like it more if there was more than one girl in it," she said. "Bala was keeping everyone together under Eyepatch while Nimba was off gallivanting with warthogs. How is that not the story?"

"Because that's totally boring and people would walk out of the theater, obviously." GOD, KATE. "No one needs to know about how she sweeps the caves or whatever."

Topher was getting a quickly crumpled up ball of paper whipped at his head.

"Really."

"Ow!" Where had that even come from? "What was that for?"

"So the girl's story's obviously g0ing to be about cleaning, and not, you know, running the resistance against the bad guy and keeping the people safe?" Kate asked, still frowning at him. "Cause man, that'd be boring."

"It is what it is," Topher replied with a lofty shrug, tossing the paper ball back at her and missing terribly. He hadn't been kidding about his crappy aim, Kate. Seriously. "She's all shrimpy and doesn't even have a subplot. She was probably babysitting all the cubs or something."

She rolled her eyes, not even bothering to reach for the ball. "She doesn't have a subplot cause they were too busy fitting in all the gas jokes."

"And subtly implying that Nimba's wilderness friends were secretly dating?" Topher suggested. "...It says so on Tumblr."

"Well, clearly Tumblr would know."

"Oh, you poor, naive grasshopper," Topher tsked. "Tumblr knows everything."

"Hey, what do they know about fish?" She couldn't help the snark.

"I would tell you, but I only have gaming laptops on me," Topher sniffed. "You'll have to look for yourself."

Kate rolled her eyes then gave in to the question finally: "...how many laptops do you have?"

"Four and one that's in progress," Topher replied immediately, beaming. "Thank you for asking."

"Because they're your precious?"

She was blaming that question on Teddy. She so wouldn't have asked that pre-Teddy.

"They're on the list," Topher agreed. "It's my laptops, Billy, a broken-off piece of an Iron Man gauntlet I have from a year or so ago, et cetera."

"If you'd stopped at the first two, I wouldn't be laughing at you right now," Kate advised him.

"Um, joke's on you, that gauntlet is badass." COME ON NOW, KATE.

"The broken-off piece is. Uh huh."

"It is if I can find out how to duplicate it!" Topher sing-songed back.

Good god. All this conversation needed was a 'nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah.'
