Fifth floor common room [Saturday morning]

Rilla had woken up bright and early this morning, just as always, and put on a clean dress, just as always, and then had taken Jims down to the common room to make pancakes.

She was mixing ingredients, he was turning himself into a flour ghost while he took handfuls of the stuff and tossed it into his hair.

Same as any other weekend, right?

Come show Rilla that's not true.

The plan was simple. Jessica's room was right by the common room. She had spider-speed and spider-agility. She get into the common room, bound into the kitchen, grab a couple granola bars, and either dive back into the hall or throw herself out the window to make her escape, all before anyone saw her.

Of course, that only worked if there wasn't already someone in the common room, so it ended up looking more like some dude running in and then taking an awkward skip at the exact moment that he realized he wasn't alone. Of course, it looked like that because that's exactly what it was, but with pronouns stealthily changed.

"Um. Hi. How's it going?"

"Miss Drew," Jessica said. "I'm a boy today." Sigh.

"I'm really hoping that's happened, because so far I'm the only girl I've seen who isn't a girl anymore," Jessica said. "If I see one more girl around, I'm going to start freaking out at a whole new level."

"You're not missing much, except for the panic, awkwardness, and confusion about what restroom to use," Jessica said.

"I think that either one the strategic use of lookouts is the best choice," Jessica mused. "You can never go wrong with the buddy system."

"Good question. I'll say 'girl buddy, who is hopefully in the same state as you because then there's some understanding,'" Jessica offered.

Emily walked into the common room with a towel over her shoulders, morning run (and swim) accomplished.

She didn't expect to see a little kid.

"Did someone get...deaged?"

[identity profile] reven8e.livejournal.com 2013-01-26 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh. I'm glad?" Because the other alternative involved things Emily didn't want to think about. That said, knowing the little one was indeed a little one was refreshing.

"So he lives here?"

"Yes, I'm new. Emily Thorne, nice to meet you."

She turned towards the kid and smiled sweetly. "And nice to meet you."

"Hi, Jims." Maybe she had a soft spot for cute children. Maybe.

"I don't really know you, Rilla, but I think I already admire you a bit," said as she turned towards Rilla again. Emily wouldn't know what to do with a toddler. At all.

"Trust me, that's the exact opposite of how this sort of stuff goes. Heck, I don't think I could deal with it."

Emily might be bitter and bent on revenge, but she could still admire good people. Still being the key word.

"I would assume so, yes." Seriously she would throw that baby out of a window if it kept her awake. "Isn't twelve hours a bit too much though?"
