Second Floor Common Room, Thursday Afternoon

Gert had seen a lot of dumb crap on television in her time -- especially reality television -- but she had to admit that this was the first time she'd seen reality television quite as stupid as I Didn't Know I Was A Zombie.

Today's episode was about Ryan, a waiter from Oregon in his twenties who apparently had only finally become aware of his zombie condition after trying to chow down on a coworker's brain -- which, according to a specialist the show had called on to consult, was probably 'six to seven months after Ryan began initial decay.'

Was Ryan shocked to discover that he was undead? Apparently so, given the fact that he'd been handling food for half a year after becoming a zombie. And his girlfriend, a musician who Gert personally thought could stand to cover some skin, was 'just as shocked as he was.'

This was really terrible, but somehow Gert couldn't look away.

[[we haven't had a common room in a weirdly long time. open!]]

"But...wait a minute, last I knew this, um, world we're in has nothing strange going on. I mean, I went and read books about this place," Emily said as she squinted at the screen. "Don't tell me we have something like multiverse cable in here? Maybe it's a thing back in wherever the show's being made."

Emily's boring normal world had no prepared her to assume things right away. Still, she was already a fandomite in her own right, more or less. So she just rolled her eyes. "I guess when you're focused on the big weird stuff the little weird stuff is easier to miss."

"You probably come from a pretty interesting place, I guess," Emily said, not quite managing to keep the envious tone for herself. Whatever.

"Perhaps you're so used to it is boring to you. I mean, you have a dinosaur and that's pretty interesting, although I guess it gets old after a while," Emily said as she tilted her head.
