1st Floor Lobby, All Day
Karla had come back from New Gotham this morning in order to take her shift at selling prom tickets. So the first thing that she noticed was the copious amounts of glitter everywhere, not just confined to the Prom Tickets sign and the voting box.
By the end of her shift, she was barely noticing the glitter anymore. Dammit, island. She did not need this kind of distraction. Or the kind of distraction presented by the various students wandering through the dorms.
Unf.

Buy Your Tickets
Re: Buy Your Tickets
That wasn't going to stop him from leaning over the ticket table and giving it a thoughtful looking-over. Because, hi, Jack Frost was a little antsy this week, and he needed all the distractions he could possibly get. Shiny, shiny glitter seemed like a good one.
"Big fans of glitter around here, huh?"
Re: Buy Your Tickets
"It's a Student Council thing," Karla replied, offering Jack a smile. "Sometimes I worry that there's some giant evil-glitter conspiracy that we're playing right into."
That's not as weird as it sounds, Jack. Not after you've been here awhile.
Re: Buy Your Tickets
"And have you got any evidence backing up the glitter's evil ways?" Jack leaned against his staff, smirking at Karla at that. "The weird mood the island has everyone in doesn't have anything to do with it, does it?"
Well, glitter did reportedly cause boykissy...
Re: Buy Your Tickets
"That's not glitter, that's the pollen," Karla said with a sigh. "You feeling it, too, then? I would think you'd be immune."
And no, she wasn't settling down a little more on the table, giving an enticing view down her shirt. Shut up.
Re: Buy Your Tickets
Yeah, it was a difficult life, being Jack Frost.
Re: Buy Your Tickets
Jack Frost's skin was ice cold. Huh. Made sense, now that she thought about it.
"There are so many frostbite puns in my head right now, I can't even."
Re: Buy Your Tickets
"Because I've never heard any of those before," Jack replied, his voice low. And then he paused for a moment, tilted his head in thought, and looked back toward Karla. "Actually... I haven't."
Re: Buy Your Tickets
She stopped. Looked at Jack. Narrowed her eyes. Hmmm-ed.
"You can make it snow right here and now, can't you?"
Re: Buy Your Tickets
Funtimes. It was snowballs and funtimes, but funtimes seemed like an unwise thing to point out, today.
"Why? You want snow all over your dance tickets?"
It could be arranged!
Re: Buy Your Tickets
Which Karla might not be willing to mention right now, but she was certainly thinking about. Because reasons.
"But what if I stood over here?" She came out from behind the table and stood in one corner of the lobby. "Could you make it super-cold? Like you were giving me a full-body hug super-cold?" Hmmm... "That's not an invitation!"
But only because she was being very good.
Re: Buy Your Tickets
"Well, I'm glad you cleared that up," he replied with a raised eyebrow, before giving his shoulders a shrug and waving his staff - not dirty - in her direction. She had asked for super cold, and Jack was definitely not going to pass up the opportunity to show off at any rate. If he just so happened to be showing off with a miniature indoor snowstorm there in the corner of the lobby, what of it? "Because, wow, I'm probably not the person to ask for full-body hugs, here."
Re: Buy Your Tickets
A sharp gust of wind cut through her clothing and she shivered again.
"Okay, this storm is doing a damn good job of it, too. You could market these this week. Five dollars for a personal blizzard to cool you off."
Re: Buy Your Tickets
He hummed a little, and then jumped up to perch on the edge of the ticket table.
"It... is a pretty marketable skill this week, though, isn't it?"
Re: Buy Your Tickets
She gave him a smile with lips tinged slightly blue. "And you can offer full-body hugs to anyone who wants to cool off with a more p-p-personal touch."
Re: Buy Your Tickets
Still, it was an intriguing idea, and Jack found himself tempted to find out just how high the demand was for a guy whose touch could freeze water solid underfoot.
Re: Buy Your Tickets
Re: Buy Your Tickets
"Yeah, definitely not getting much in the way of requests for hugs," he replied, sounding... maybe a touch bitter about that. "But getting up close and personal with people now isn't going to do much beyond rub in that I can't do much... beyond. You think I'm frustrated now..."
Re: Buy Your Tickets
Fuck. Okay. Could still get way colder.
"Sometimes it's just nice to be hugged," she told him, ignoring the, uhh, popsicle in his pants. "Frustrating, sure, but would you really rather not?"
Re: Buy Your Tickets
"... I've been three centuries without," he mumbled into her shoulder. "I'm not about to start turning them down now, not if people are actually offering."
Re: Buy Your Tickets
Ew. Sorry, Jack. But Karla wasn't going to turn down another mood killer, either.
"Maybe in heavy jackets and gloves?" she suggested.
...She was just gonna vanish that bit of skin now. Because, again, ew.
Re: Buy Your Tickets
Jack wrinkled his nose at that bit of skin until it disappeared, and then sighed and shrugged his shoulders. Good way to kill a mood, right there. Yep.
"I'll... think about it."
But if hugs kept ending up like that, he was going to be kind of iffy about them. Yep.
Re: Buy Your Tickets
"Sweatshirts and gloves," Karla said with a nod. "Have them cover up." So no skin-touchy. "This way it can last longer."
Good save!
