First Floor Rec Room, Friday Evening
So, Gert, being Gert, had had no interest in going to prom. As it happened, Gert, being a sophomore, had no permission to go to prom either, so that worked out well, but she maintained that it was the lack of interest that was the reason she wasn't there right now.
Anyway, even as sulky and inescapably turned-on as she was, she regarded this decision as a perfectly valid lifestyle choice, and so was the way she was currently hiding out in the rec room, playing some game that seemed like Tetris but with dragons and lasers. She'd never really been a video game person, and was even less of one after the whole Alex fiasco, but she needed to blow off some steam, and getting really loud and annoyed at a video game seemed like as good a way as any to do that.

Look, three sisters with hormones in one body could go through a lot of ice cream.
"What's all the fuss about?" she asked, before realizing that maybe she shouldn't be looking. This week, yelling didn't always mean anger.

"The four-piece cube keeps getting eaten by the dragon before I can get it in the bottom row where I need it," Gert complained as she slumped back against the couch, her voice slightly less loud and annoyed than it had been a minute ago when she'd just been yelling at the game. "This game is idiotic."

Which Gert could probably guess, considering the kind of clothing Zhari was wearing. "Why do you need a cube?" she asked, coming in further to see what all was going on. "And why would a dragon want to eat one?"

It was a very complex game.
"You're welcome to give it a shot," she added, holding up the controller.

"Why don't I watch you for a bit?" she suggested hastily. "Let me watch for a little while, see what you do?"
There were falling blocks and dragons and lasers and what?!

And seriously, she was growing a bit worried that playing these things would turn her into Alex. It was a real concern.

...She honestly didn't know. But on this island, it was a distinct possibility.

=Not my ice cream!= Zeela cried.
*Hush, you. I'm making friends.*
"I'm Zhari, by the way. Nice to meet you."

Yes, that was a lot of chocolate. Look, some people coped one way, Zhahar and her sisters were coping another.

Apart from a slight wince when Zeela got particularly shrill, Zhahar just dug into the ice cream with a smile and good will.
"It's that kind of week," she said wryly. "Ice cream is necessary in abundance."
