2nd Floor Common Room | Sunday Morning

There was weird stuff happening on the island again and Jim wasn't affected. He'd woken up as himself and he'd stayed himself and he was still currently himself while sprawled on one of the couches in the common room.

Considering classes were done for the term, he probably should have still been asleep instead of up this early and out of bed but he couldn't resist the allure of possibly seeing some people he knew acting like people they weren't. He was an opportunistic jackass that way. But, he didn't think he could be blamed. If people were gonna go all weird, he had the right to laugh at them if they did stupid stuff, right?

Right.

He figured he had to be properly awake to do anything though so he was eating some 'borrowed' cereal and watching some motivational on TV to get himself going. Except all the TV was doing was boring him so he hoped the cereal was really magic or something to make up for it.

"And yet, you're the one who barged in here, demanding to know what was going on," Jim pointed out breezily. "And you're still here. So, obviously a part of you wants to be here with me."

[arsenicmauls]

"Or maybe I want to be here with the rest of the people in this room, you conceited jerk," Roxie countered.

Well, that escalated quickly.

[pursuedthestars]

"Wow, I have never heard that before in my life," Jim said dryly. "You've wounded me. Permanently. Ow."

[arsenicmauls]

"If I really wanted to wound you, I'd use my sword," Roxie snapped. "That was just an observation, jerk."

[pursuedthestars]

"You need to calm down or you're going to have a stroke," Jim told her with a shake of his head. "And then there'll be no more parties for you!"

[arsenicmauls]

"I will not!" Roxie squawked, offended. She wasn't going to have a stroke! She was a badass half-ninja! "Don't tell me what to do!"

[pursuedthestars]

"Fine, then keep screaming." He shook his head and laughed. "But you really don't need to because I'm right here and I can hear you just fine."

[arsenicmauls]

"And that's supposed to make a difference?" Well, you know, some people would take it as a cue to pipe down, at least. "Shut up! I don't care about what you want!"

[pursuedthestars]

"Yeah, you obviously just care about yelling loud enough that everyone in the building hears you," Jim noted with a nod. "Doesn't that hurt your throat after awhile?"

[arsenicmauls]

"I'm not yelling!" That was true, actually. But she wasn't being especially quiet, either. "God, why are you such a douche?"

[pursuedthestars]

"Why are you so judgmental?" Jim shot back. "God."

[arsenicmauls]

"Hey, asshole, you're the one who was just dissing a girl just because of her hairstyle," Roxie snapped. She'd heard a fragment of his conversation with Helen and hadn't been impressed. "Now I'm the judgmental one?"

"Did you hear our entire conversation?" Jim wondered, shaking his head. She was starting to give him a headache with the snapping and squawking. "Really, you shouldn't be making assumptions about things you don't know about. Also, you're gonna owe me a fat apology soon."

When she was back to normal. He still hadn't quite figured out who she was but he had some ideas.

"Is that some kind of remark?" Yeah, she was going to be super apologetic later on, actually. Also, super embarrassed. Probably more embarrassed than apologetic. "I heard enough to know what kind of person you are, and I saw enough to know that I could kick your ass!"

That wasn't a threat so much as an announcement. It was very important that she communicate this to everyone.

"I don't really care if you could kick my ass or not," Jim said, sighing at this and shaking his head. "Mostly, because I don't feel the need to show off how tough I am by shouting and making threats. I'm just sitting here with my cereal and I'm fine with that. You're not and that sounds like a personal problem."

[arsenicmauls]

"So's your sexism," said Roxie. "And your delusion that I care about your pretend therapy. Screw you, jackass."

If that was all, she was thinking she might storm off now. As ragey, neurotic half-ninjas did.

"Wow, you are really overcompensating," Jim said, whistling under his breath. "But hey, you're gonna be the one in the early grave, not me!"

[arsenicmauls]

"Oh yeah? Why's that?" Roxie snapped defensively as she turned back around to look at him.

[pursuedthestars]

"High blood pressure," was all Jim said before returning to his cereal. What an interesting person Roxie was.
