With the Student Council election coming up on Wednesday, Jessica figured it was a good idea to do a little bit of campaigning outside of just mentioning it on the radio.

That's why she had a table set up in the lobby with cookies freshly bought from J,GoB on a plate. And next to the plate was a sign.

She could take Student Council seriously. She just wasn't really showing it yet.

Jim had spent the majority of the day in town but he had to come back eventually. And he couldn't help stopping in the lobby when he spotted Jessica.

"I don't know if gourmet cookies are enough to secure my vote, Jessie," Jim said, reaching for one of the cookies nonetheless.

"If it helps, you can have two," Jessica said. "Just because your vote is that important to me, Jimmy."

"And why is that?" he asked, helping himself to another despite that awful, awful nickname. "Because I'm a senior and every vote counts? Or am I just that important?"

"Both can be true," Jessica said. "I'm going with both."

"Well, now you gotta tell me why I'm important," he said, popping a piece of cookie into his mouth. "Sway my vote, Jay."

"Because we came here together, J-Dawg. We go way back. You're one of the first people I knew here, and I haven't forgotten that," Jessica said. "And you tolerate my nicknames."

"And how do you know I haven't gotten close with the other candidates?" Jim asked. He, of course, had no idea who else was running besides her.

"Well, they're not out here campaigning and haven't mentioned that they're running on radio," Jessica said. "So, educated guess, you probably don't know who else is running."

"I know who's running, Jazzy," he said smoothly. "I just don't know them well. The political process is one that takes time and concentration. I have to research and survey and take polls."

"Well, I'm here to answer any survey questions you might have," Jessica said. "Let 'er rip, J.Lo."

"How are you going to make my last year here one to remember, Sica?" he asked curiously.

"Well, Ames, I can promise that any dances you attend will be well-put-together and hopefully even fun. I vow to do nothing about the spiking of the punch that seems to happen at all dances and not just because nobody knows how it always gets spiked, and if we're in the same room when a gremlin attacks you, I'll jump in between you and it," Jessica said. "That way, not only will you be safe, but you'll get to see me act like an idiot until it wears off."

That was pretty impressive, Jim had to admit. He nodded and finished off his cookies.

"Those are some very effective campaign promises, JJ," he complimented, nodding. "Nice job with personalizing that last one. I think you might have persuaded me. I hate looking the fool."

"I also promise not to add a punchline to that obvious setup, JK," Jessica said. "Even though it's killing me not to. That's how much I care."

"That just means that once everything's over, you're gonna make up for lost time," Jim decided. "You'll just word vomit all over the radio."

"That's what I do already," Jessica said. "Nothing's going to change there."

"Well, if you win, I'd expect a little gloating, Jessa," Jim told her, nodding. "It'd only be fair. And bragging is fun."

"Now, now, I try to be humble, Jimbo," Jessica said. "I can't say there won't be a little thank you if I win, but it will be modest."

"Pfft." Jim waved that modesty promise off. He'd be gloating for weeks. "When's the voting anyway? Wouldn't wanna oversleep."

"Wednesday," Jessica said. "So you can sleep tomorrow away if you want," Jessica offered. "Be nice and rested for Wednesday."

"I think I can manage that," Jim decided, nodding. "And for what it's worth, I'll vote for you. So, there's one for. Congratulations."
