the gym ; tuesday afternoon
Second week in a row that Flick was making a visit to the gym. The reasons were twofold this week. He'd like feeling a little more in control of his body after the session last week. He'd started feeling lazy and doughy but a nice, intense workout had left him feeling like he wasn't getting weak and the next time his father showed his face, Flick was going to be physically ready.
Mentally was another story.
This week though, he had another reason. He had things on his mind, things he hadn't thought about in awhile and he needed to get them out of his head. Jude would have laughed and told him it was only human nature and Flick would have had to blush and be embarrassed to be even discussing the whole thing with his younger brother.
Beating a heavy bag senseless? Yeah, that sounded like a good way to release some energy. He'd work up a good sweat and hopefully wash himself of this feeling.
He was going gloves off today, giving his knuckles a beating already as he smacked the heavy bag. There were still images upon images in his head. Dammit. Those weren't going away easily.
Life wasn't fair.
[Open. Feel free to talk to Flick or use the gym for how you need it.]

"Think you'll be long?" she asked.

"Dunno," he said after a moment, wiping at his brow with his forearm. "Why? Want a turn?"

Flick winced at that line and shook his head. This stupid -- whatever this was seemed to be making him crazier than usual.
He stopped punching the bag for a second, holding it with both hands and breathing heavily. "You want a go against something that fights back?"
Hey, it was only nice to offer. Dangerous maybe but nice.
no subject
"You think that's such a good idea?" Which wasn't to say she wasn't up for it.
no subject
He pushed the heavy bag. "And this thing's kinda boring. Why? You don't wanna? Angling for something a little more...lonely?"

That'd be a lot more fun than punching this damn bag and with someone else involved, he'd get to --
Flick tried to stop those thoughts immediately but they were still taunting him anyway. He licked his lips and laughed quietly.
"I haven't had a good fight in awhile," he added, pushing away from the bag and coming closer. "This'll be fun."
Or insane.

"You may regret saying that," she warned, finding a good place to take a fighting position before starting with an easy punch toward the chest.
She could totally handle this.

Flick had dropped into a stance of his own, recalled from military school so it was easy to see that punch coming and deflect it away with his forearm.
Of course, that meant touching her and yeah, maybe this wasn't such a good idea. He was going with it.
After deflecting her punch, he swung towards her with one of his own, aimed lower towards her stomach.

The punch stung briefly and Flick moved quickly, grabbing at her wrist and trying to yank her hard towards him in an attempt to knock her off balance.

He caught her against him when she crashed into him, securing an arm around her waist so they didn't both topple over even if he did stumble backwards a few steps.
And he...probably should have let her go after catching her but he didn't do that. So, well, at least she hadn't fallen down!

Her hand had found his back to steady herself, way too aware of how close he was. "You should let me go," she said quietly. Since he was right there and all.
no subject
"You sure about that?"
Not what his logical mind wanted to say but his logical mind had been overruled.

And he could admit that but he was having some trouble with the actually doing it. He'd stopped breathing heavy but with a girl this close to him? Sorry Sia, he was going to wet his lips again. It was an involuntary reaction.
That was his story and he was sticking to it.
"You're not really pushing me away either." This went both ways.
no subject
"That isn't the point," she said.
no subject
The longer he kept a hold of her, the harder it was going to be to let her go. His mind was getting fuzzier and fuzzier and touching someone had not been a good idea but it had also been the best idea.
"Want me to let you go?"
no subject
She just didn't mind if he didn't.
no subject
Honesty was the best policy. And this seemed to be what he wanted to do instead of fighting no matter what he said.
"I'd apologize but I'm...not really sorry."
no subject
no subject
"And you are not really protesting," he noted, taking his chance to lean a little closer to her. Not sorry about that either. "You feel pretty good."

And while he hadn't kissed anyone in awhile, he sure as hell still remembered how to do it so it was easy and natural to respond when she leaned up and kissed him.
It felt good. Really, really good.
no subject
Kind of the opposite, actually.
no subject
His fingers got a little tangled up in her shirt and he stepped closer to her, seeking out more body heat since that was what he wanted right now. Body heat and touching and all that.

He looped his other arm around her, touching her just as much as he possibly could. He wanted her to be closer to him. Just as close as she could be.
no subject
Which was when she decided she had to force herself to pull back, because... she just had to. It was bad enough that she'd done this much, and what was his name again? "We should stop."
no subject
Because of the name thing? He could solve that easy.
"You didn't like that?"
no subject
no subject
"Okay, I respect that," he said, trying to calm himself down, "even if I really didn't want to stop. Like at all."
Just being honest.
no subject
"I need to go," she said, taking a few big steps back towards the door.

This was so sad.

He gave her a little smile.
"Hope to see you around sometime, Sia. You're a great kisser."
He wasn't sorry for that either.
