5th Floor Common Room, Thursday evening

Jessica had been walking down the hall when she heard weird, giggling noises coming from a utility closet. "Okay, keep it down," she called out as she knocked on the closet door. "We get it, you're having a good time. You don't have to be so noisy about it."

Then the giggling started getting louder. And there was metal banging. And horse noises. "Okay, I don't know what your deal is, but the horsey sounds is too much. Go find someplace actually private," Jessica said before opening the door.

Two gremlins immediately ran out, clutching underwear to their bodies as they darted into a vent. "I think that was my bra," Jessica noted in horror as she realized that gremlins didn't wear clothes. She decided to stop into e common room for something mindless to watch as she tried to deal with the fact that gremlins stole her underwear when the worst thing possible happened.

That's right. The sounds of gremlins getting it on in the duct started coming into the common room. She could not bury her head in enough pillows to dampen the sound enough, so she also tried turning the tv Volume up. It was horrifying.

[Im actually still at the office waiting for the ok to go home. So I post. Sigh. Delay expected for travel soon!]

"Why's it so loud in here?" Jim asked, making a face and rubbing at his ear. "You trying to drown out sex or something?"

And that'd just been a random guess considering the week and all that he'd heard on the radio.

Jessica said, "Close. Very close, but you're missing a crucial word." She then hit the mute button on the remote.

Congratulations, Jim. Now you know what gremlin sex sounded like.

Jim listened for a few seconds before he realized what he was hearing.

"Oh god," Jim said, immediately slapping both hands over his ears and grimacing. "Turn it back up, turn it back up before my brain melts out of my ears!"

He forgot all about his hormones for a few moments. Thanks, Jessica!

Ask and ye shall receive. Jessica immediately unamused and tried in vain to turn the volume up past max.

"The worst part is that after a couple minutes, it actually sounds kind of interesting. Like, you can tell they're having a good time."

"Are you jealous of some gremlins?" Jim asked now that he couldn't hear them...doing whatever it was they were doing. He could go back to being amused and trying to ignore the tension in his body.

Emma had been too twitchy to settle down in her room, so she'd been wandering the dorms when she heard the sound of the tv.

"What's on?" she asked, as if everything was completely normal, she couldn't hear anything under the noise.

"I'm not jealous,I'm a scientist. There's just a natural curiosity about living beings inherent in that," Jessica said.

"The noisiest thing I could find," Jessica answered. Loudly.

Jim made another face at her and flopped down on the couch, stretching his legs out and crossing his arms. Because that would make him completely immune to pollen and other people who looked good to him.

"Wouldn't it better for your scientist self to experience what they're doing and not just listen to them get their rocks off?" That'd be his choice if he were a scientist.

Which he wasn't.

"I can tell that much," Emma said, just as loudly.

"I know you're not suggesting I boink a gremlin, but it sounds kind of like you're suggesting I boink a gremlin," Jessica said.

"It's either that or the sound of gremlins having carnal relations," Jessica said. "Sorry about the noise, but I choose this."

Well, he hadn't been but...

"I think it would be a learning experience for you, Jessie," Jim said, shooting her a grin. "Show the world just how open minded you are!"

If Jessica had ever wondered what D: looked like on a real person, she could wonder no more.

"Don't they have somewhere else they could do that?"

"Hey," Emma said, waving awkwardly.

Oh look, a very attractive girl and she was waving at him. It didn't take much for Jim to sit up and pay attention.

"Heya," he said, giving her a wave back. "Haven't seen you before. That's a travesty."

"I'm not that kind of scientist, Jimmy Jam," Jessica said, giving Jim a very sincere smile.

"I accidentally scared them out of the utility closet," Jessica said. "They went from there to the duct. I actually do apologize for that."

"That's just too bad," Jim said, shaking his head sadly. "I would so read a educational article about the mating habits of gremlins as written and experienced by one Dr. Jessaboo Drew."

Cute and smooth, normally Emma might have rolled her eyes at that, but this week? She was just kind of blushy, instead. "Haven't seen you around either," she said, smiling at him. "I'm Emma."

"Which utility closet?"

So Emma knew to never ever get anything out of it.

"Oh my god, you actually gave me a nickname that I think is kind of cute. And it's while you said the most horrible thing you've ever said to me. I'm impressed, I really am," Jessica noted.

"The one I'm probably going to set on fire because it will never be clean. Look for the scorch marks," Jessica said. "By the way, I don't think I know you yet. Jessica Drew, potential arsonist."

Jim tended to evoke those reactions in girls when they weren't all hyped up on pollen. It was a gift he had and he made the most of it.

But, the blush made him grin and he made sure to keep looking at her because she was blushing and it was cute. "Jim. Maybe we've just passed each other in our daily travels. I know I am personally regretting that. But, look at that, we can make up for it right now."

"My job here is done," Jim said, sounding pleased with himself. "I managed to impress you and found a nickname that you liked. What else in life is there for me to do?"
