This week was turning out to be weird. Jessica had a date for the dance, against all of her expectations. And she had more glitter for the sign, against all common sense. And she had yet more redacted files to read through during any slow periods at the table, against all... um... Huh. Apparently that theme wasn't enough to carry all the way through. Oh well.

Topher had gone to Homecoming twice now. Also, he was on Student Council. There was no reason he should be surprised by all this.

"Topher. You're on Student Council. You've been here longer than I have. You didn't realize this before?" Jessica asked. She agreed with his narrative, yes.

Topher thought about it, scratching the back of his neck. Come to think of it, this did sound familiar.

"Maybe," he admitted. "Which one's Homecoming again? Is this the one with the kissing booth?"

"Yes. We have the carnival with rides and booths and games. All kinds of stuff like that," Jessica said. "And graduates are invited back, too."
