So it turned out there was a whole channel dedicated to cheesy horror movies. It might not be Halloween time anymore but Isaac was always up for ragging on cheesy flicks about killer clowns. He even popped some popcorn for the occasion.

He hoped one of the clowns killed somebody with balloon animals. That'd be hilarious.

"Because this place hates me," Flick said, shrugging. It seemed like the most logical answers. "There are Christmas horror movies out there. Santa going nuts and killing everyone and nobody gets their toys for Christmas."

"Ever seen the one where the killer attacks the sorority girls during Christmas?" Isaac asked. "It's a good one."

"Apparently, I've missed out on some pretty good Christmas offerings," Flick said, sliding the stolen wallet into his pocket and taking a look at the movie. "Still a crappy holiday but movies like that could redeem it somewhat."

"Are you one of those people that get mad when the mall decorates for Christmas in October?" Isaac asked, offering the bowl of popcorn to Flick.

"I don't get mad," Flick said, taking a seat and a handful of popcorn. "I don't care all that much. I just hate the holiday itself. It's a money making machine disguised as a season of love and giving."

"But the food's good." Isaac didn't ever receive much in the way of gifts around Christmas so it wasn't his first priority there.

"The food good's when it's gonna be your last meal too," Flick pointed out cynically. "Though, that's more of a reason to like the holiday than you telling me you wanted to spread joy and love and charity around."

For some reason that response made Isaac laugh. "You're a ball of sunshine."

"I've heard that before actually," Flick said, not even minutely serious about that. "Ball of sunshine, fluffy teddy bear, sweet kitty. All those things and more."

"I've gotten cherubic angel before," Isaac said. "Must be the hair."

Flick looked up at the hair in question and then shrugged a shoulder.

"I could see it, yeah," he agreed. "That or you've got a chubby, rosy face. Do you often find old women pinching your cheeks?"

"I'm not around enough old women to say," Isaac said. "I used to work at a graveyard so the old people were dead by the time I met them."

"Pleasant," Flick said, making a face. "But, peaceful. No one yammering in your ear about their insignificant problems because they expect you to show sympathy towards them."

It'd happened to him a time or two, yes. "Sounds like a really great job, actually."

"Oh yeah it was great," he said, rolling his eyes. "I loved digging graves."

"It built character," Flick remarked with a snicker. "And probably upper body strength too. How was the pay?"

"There wasn't any," he answered. "I was working for my father."

"What? He pay you in love or something?" Flick asked since, father or not, that sounded like hard work. "Or say you owed him for the gift of his sperm or some crap?"

Flick had daddy issues. Heaps of them.

"The last one," Isaac said, frowning. "And it'd help me learn discipline or some other bullshit excuse like that."

"Sounds like a wonderful guy," Flick said, not meaning it at all. Sounded pretty familiar too. "It's a bullshit excuse. I think every shitty father uses it at one point or another. Gotta break their sons and vicariously mold them into something they failed at being."

Holy daddy issues. And Isaac thought he had a problem.

"It doesn't matter much anymore," Isaac said with a shrug. "He's dead now."

"Lucky."

If only his father would have blessed him with being dead. If only.

"Guess that means you're safe from visits during the family weekend this place likes to throw every once in awhile?"

"Everybody in my family is dead," he confirmed with a nod. "But my alpha might visit every now and again."

"Alpha?" It was a term that Flick knew but it didn't seem right in the context Isaac seemed to be suggesting. "That another name for your boss?"

"Sort of. The alpha is the leader of my pack which is sort of like a family. People who protect each other," he explained. "I'm a werewolf, by the way."

Just getting that out there.

Flick's eyebrows went up at the sudden revelation but he didn't react otherwise.

"Well, you're a first for me," he finally said. "Only seen you guys in terrible movies. It usually doesn't work out for fellow werewolves."

Flick knew movies weren't real life though. "I'll try not to ask you about every stereotype in the book."
