Isaac was not one for being in the Christmas spirit but he was all for watching Christmas movies and eating cookies. Home Alone counted as a Christmas movie, right? Of course it did. He wished he was as cool as Kevin McCallister as a kid. Instead he had been kind of a dork.

Oh well, at least he was a six foot tall studly werewolf now. That made things better.

Mira was sending off a few messages on her datapad when she spotted somebody in the common room. Rather than actually head all the way back to her room, she decided to drop in and check things out. "What's this? Anything good?"

"Home Alone," Isaac answered. "Christmas classic."

"Just because it's a classic doesn't mean it's good," Mira pointed out. "But since I've never seen it, I'm not actually judging."

"Classics are classics for a reason," he said. "If they sucked they wouldn't be classics."

"What, you don't have classics that you make fun of?" Mira asked. "I swear people have told me that's a thing here."

"I tend to make fun of movies that deserve it," he said. "Can't really think of any Christmas ones that do."

"I guess I can take your word for it," Mira said. "But if I stumble across one while I'm here, I'm blaming you directly."

"Fine, fine," Isaac said with a wave of his hand. "I will take any and all responsibility for it."

"Good," Mira said. "So what's going on here so far? I'm guessing the kid is alone. At home. Am I up to speed yet?"

"Pretty much," Isaac said. "He's about to get some burglars bothering him soon and he'll have to take matters into his own hand to defeat him."

"Okay, I think you're actually selling me on this. Does he have any explosives?" Mira checked.

"Some small fireworks, if I remember correctly," he said. "But he also uses paint cans, pointy Christmas ornaments and blow torches. You know, your usual household items."

"This is definitely somebody I can root for," Mira said. "I can see why it's a classic."

"The sequel is pretty good too," he said. "In that one he gets lost in New York City...his parents aren't very attentive."

"Wait, he's not an orphan?" Mira checked. "Because it sounds like he's on his own a little too much."

"Nope, he just has a million siblings and inattentive parents," Isaac said. "The whole family is very disorganized."

"Home Alone?" More than a little before Raleigh's time, oddly enough. But he was hoping to find free food, so...

"Yep," he said. "I decided to watch something festive."

"It's very festive," Raleigh assured him. Because sure. Why not?

"Why do I feel like you don't actually believe that?"

"Isn't it kinda old?" Raleigh asked, making everyone in the narrative feel old. Mostly just the narrative.

Isaac shrugged. "I think it came out like twenty years ago. Does that count as old?"

"...yeah." A beat. "Maybe a classic?"

"Agreed," he said with a nod. "Do you have your heart set on watching something else or...?"

"More hoping someone made food," Raleigh admitted.

"There's cookies," he said. "Not homemade, but it does the job."

"They're free, I'm not turning them down." In fact, hoarding may happen.

"That's what I figure," he said. "Surprised I haven't gotten fat from all the free food here."

"There would need to be way more food." Lies. "Or pizza. But it'd be worth it."

"I think there's frozen ones in the fridge. But I'm not making them." Hint hint.

Hey, frozen was at least in his cooking skill set. Right up there with mac & cheese. And a hamburger.

"Don't complain if they're burned," Raleigh replied, going to hunt those pizzas down. Because Christmas was all about sharing.

And food.

"Better burned the raw." Because Isaac had a tendency to under cook things when he was hungry. He wanted to eat fast, dammit!

"You're not a vegetarian, right?" Raleigh asked, looking at a meat pizza and then a veggie one.

"Definitely not," he said. "Pure carnivore, here."

"Awesome." It's because you're Californian, Isaac. Raleigh shoved the pizza on into the oven, setting the temperature.

Thank god he got that wrapper off.

"You not heading home for the holidays?"

"No. Weird time thing, it's like September there," he said with a shrug. "Don't really have family back home anyway."

"Really weird," Raleigh agreed, with a sympathetic shrug. "It's Christmas back home for me. I don't think I've run into anyone where the year and all that matched up."
