the gym ; monday afternoon
It felt like it'd been awhile since Flick had been down to the gym. In reality, it hadn't been that long and he'd been getting exercise other ways but still, it was time to fall back into that routine so he didn't end up getting too doughy and soft. He'd save those moments for when he was behind closed doors.
Usually, he defaulted to flat out boxing when it came to the gym and the heavy bag but he was going a little different today. The Brazilian jujitsu classes he'd taken back at the academy had been in his head lately so that's what he was using today. It meant using his body differently, working muscles that didn't tend to get worked as much when he was just flat out punching the crap out of something or someone.
Which didn't take away how much he liked just punching the crap of some people, of course. It was a good time. He just felt like switching it up. He figured he'd slide into Krav Maga techniques in awhile just to keep that side of things fresh as well.
And then maybe he'd go to straight boxing. End with the fun stuff, why not?

Yeah, his training was being interrupted.

He raised an eyebrow at her and kept his hands and arms up but didn't say anything. Apparently, he'd punched the bag enough for her tastes or something.
no subject
"That's enough of that," she said, confirming his suspicion there. "Bag's not a worthy opponent."

She let go of the bag, and stepped away from it.

He knew the answer to his question. He was just taking his time with following her.
no subject
She was shifting her weight again, from one side to the other, but she was doing it slowly, idly. Not really gearing up for anything in any obvious way. Watching him.

He was already pretty loose considering he'd been there awhile but always good to make sure. He wasn't smirking or smiling anymore, at least. He was taking things seriously even if he was internally amused at how she'd pretty much arrived and made him stop what he was doing.
no subject
But she wasn't giving him instructions or influencing him in other ways right at this moment. She wasn't smirking or smilingor anything, either. Just rocking from side to side, and rolling her shoulders. She'd warmed up before she'd even come down here, but it didn't hurt to do some more.

Of course, just being there, watching him in silence while doing some minor warmup? That in itself was kind of a challenge.

After he'd done that, he finally did move. He wasn't intending for this to be anything fancy or anything that would do damage but he pushed off his foot and lunged at her. When he got close enough, he was going to attempt to bring a knee up into her stomach but he was also planning what to do if that didn't work.
no subject
She had no plan. You always had to let those go too soon, anyway.
no subject
He planted a foot to completely stop his momentum and sent a backhand her way, going for the neck and shoulder area since it was just the right height.
no subject
And if she got a hold of that, she was going to stomp on his instep, too. So, there was that.
no subject
By twisting slightly and throwing a quick jab at her face to try and stun her backwards. He didn't pull that punch at all because no way was he going easy on her (or anyone). She might have had a hold on one arm but there was a reason he'd been given two at birth.
no subject
And she moved backwards for a step or two, but didn't let go of his arm. Actually, after a second to recover from the hit, she gave his arm a harsh tug. No twisting, sadly, but it wasn't pleasant.
no subject
Flick hissed out another string of curses and was forced to use his free arm as offense again. He moved forward with the tugging, trying to use that momentum to just slam his fist into her stomach. Something to get her to let go of his damn arm.
no subject
Still had to try dropping a little lower and kicking at one of his ankles, though.
no subject
He shook out his arm once which did little to help but oh well. Flick lunged closer again, trying to grab at her arm so he could do some twist of his own. Trying to get her arm and himself behind her back to give him some leverage.
no subject
He was also getting the back of her head to his face unless he was very careful. Isabelle wasn't really holding back either.
no subject
"Motherfucker," Flick snarled, pretty sure she'd just busted his nose enough to get it bleeding. He could feel that already hitting his lips. That had hurt.
He couldn't really swipe at the blood since that'd mean letting her go so he wrenched her arm harder in payback and actually kicked down at the back of her knee to gain some additional leverage and to maybe cause a little pain for her too.
no subject
And her knee gave out underneath her at the kick. Had to give him credit for that, she really hadn't expected it.
