Fifth Floor Common Room, Monday evening

Jessica had her tablet as she settled into the common room tonight. She was continuing to go over as many files on Roxxon as she could and she figured some background noise would be nice.

It turned out, there was a run of some of those terrible basic cable movies tonight, starting with something called Hercules vs Sinbad in: The Age of the Pharaohs. Apparently next was Slightly Larger Than Normal Monkey vs Manhole, and that somehow made less sense. Watching two minutes of this effectively killed enough brain cells that research was meaningless, so she ended up ordering some pizza so she could settle in for the whole marathon.

Don't judge what she was doing with her night. You'd do it, too. Admit it. You wanted to know how a slightly large monkey would fight a manhole.

"What's on TV, prom queen?" Jim asked, ambling in and flopping down. He was doing his level best not to be productive tonight. "Anything good?"

"Something where Hercules and Sinbad fight in Egypt for reasons that I either missed or they didn't bother explaining," Jessica said, ignoring the 'prom queen' greeting. "It's probably the stupidest thing I've ever seen." And it was getting stupider every minute!

"Sounds awesome!" Jim said, kicking his feet up. "I think I'd put my money on Hercules in a fight like that. Just a vibe I'm getting."

Or it was the first name he'd picked out.

"Though, if they don't destroy some pyramids, I'll be disappointed."

"On one hand, all they have is the strength of a god and some swords, so I don't see how they could," Jessica said. "On the other hand, of course they will."

"It'd only be right," he said, shrugging. "Bonus points if one of them figures out a way to use the pyramid as a weapon. Maybe a giant projectile."

Because who needed realism in a bad movie?

"Is it possible for something to be both the dumbest and most brilliant thing I've ever heard?"

"Is what I just said the dumbest and most brilliant thing you've ever heard?" he asked.

"It's not a reflection on you, I promise," Jessica said. "You're thinking on this movie's level and if that happened, it would absolutely be both things."

"Well, I am brilliant," he said, shrugging shamelessly. "Hold your applause, please. I'll sign autographs when the movie's over."

"And I had my autograph book all ready," Jessica sighed. he had a slice of pizza in her hands. It was not an autograph book.

"Better be careful, I might reach over and just put my grubby paws all over your pizza," he warned. "I'd do it too."

"If your paws want pizza, take your own slice," Jessica warned. "It's there for the taking."

"Aww, it's no wonder you got elected prom queen," Jim joked, smirking. "Such a kind and generous person."

"I'm still working under the theory that it's a very elaborate prank, personally," Jessica said. "But I think the pranker really missed their window for the punchline at this point."

"Haven't you won it like the last...ten times or something?" Jim asked, exaggerating slightly. Or more than slightly. "You've got a collection of those crowns now."

"Like I said, a very elaborate prank," Jessica said. "Seriously, it's just weird to me. Nothing about my high school career before Fandom prepared me for any amount of popularity and I'm still not used to it."

"The only bad thing about this one was that you had to share the spotlight with Jackson," Jim said, making a face. "His stupid ass doesn't deserve to be a king."

"I don't really know him that well," Jessica said. "But apparently enough people like him to make up for missing out on my vote."

"I wouldn't put ballot box stuffing past him," Jim remarked though he knew the senior class wasn't huge and maybe Jackson had a friend or two. "I would listen to you before I listened to him."

"You'd listen to me because I can't shut up long enough for you to avoid me," Jessica joked.

"Oh, I am a master at ignoring even the most talkative of people," Jim told her, making a face. "If you talked my ear off, I'd ignore you, but I'd listen to you because I know you're smart and you probably wouldn't send me off to an unnecessary death in a battle situation."

"I'm pretty sure the plastic crown doesn't give me that kind of authority in the first place, but thank you for that," Jessica said.

"Hey, I was feeling maudlin and thought I'd give you a compliment," Jim said, shrugging. "Not too much longer before I'm gone from this place and back home."

"Are you sticking around for the summer, or is it straight home for you after graduation?" Jessica checked.

"Probably straight home," he said, shrugging. "I thought about sticking around but I think I'd get bored pretty quick. "What about you?"

"I'll probably hang out for a couple weeks, but I have a job waiting for me that I'll have to get to sooner rather than later," Jessica said.

"What're you gonna here for a few weeks?" he wondered. "You won't be able to win anymore crowns!"

"I'm still Student Council President. I can make sure something gets set up for that purpose," Jessica pointed out.

"Wouldn't that be considered using your powers for your own personal gain or something?" Jim asked. "Couldn't they impeach you or something?"

"Once I'm already out the door, I don't see how that would matter," Jessica said. "The best time to become a dictator is right at the point that nobody's going to care if you do it."

"How shrewd of you," Flick said, almost impressed. "Might incite a rebellion but maybe you'd do it quick enough to really prevent anything like that. Unless I gave your potential future plans away."
