4th floor common room, Saturday morning

Ichabod's cooking skills were rather limited, but he knew how to make tea, and he had made himself a plate with some bread and cheese to go with it. Taking a seat in the couch to eat his breakfast, he accidentally placed his hand on an odd object with buttons, and all of a sudden a picture burst to life on the wall, emitting voices.

The surprise made him jump, nearly spilling his tea, but Ichabod was not completely unfamiliar with the concept of moving images, as watching a movie had been part of a class this week. This was another movie however, one that involved two people standing in a kitchen, cooking. He frowned a little.

"What is the point of this?"

As he didn't know how to turn it off, he continued to watch, deciding that at least it was preferable to a story of superficial young ladies interested in clothes.

"Entertainment, mostly," Jessica said as she walked into the room. "Or information. But this looks more like the entertainment type of thing."

"Morning," Jessica said. "And yeah, some people cook for fun. If this is a movie, it's really just something they're doing to lte the characters talk or move the plot along somehow."

"Personally, I order take out for fun. I think it's a more fruitful use of my time."

"Take out. Noun. Food you get from a restaurant and then don't eat there, thus taking it out," Jessica said. "My name is Jessica and I'm a walking dictionary. Not literally."

"Yeah, the TV confusion is usually a giveaway," Jessica said. "But pretty much anything on the island is at least good. But I end up at Ching Tai a lot. Apparently I really like Chinese food."

"I'm a local, timewise," Jessica said. "But I like to think that I could deal with some time disparity. But I appreciate the fact that I've never had to find that out for sure."

"Thanks," Jessica said, grabbing a cup so she could pour herself som tea. "And I'm kind of a science nerd, so I actually really enjoy th fact that we get people from all kinds of times around here. Did you know that we actually get some people who are from a different galaxy - I'm talking planets we've never even heard of - who are still from hundreds or thousands of years apart? Time and space. It's crazy. I love it."

"And that fact that we've stopped doing that is really, really sad," Jessica said. "Who's your roommate? And I ask that while acknowledging that if he's new, I probably don't know him."

"Nope. I've ben bad about meeting the new kids, to be honest," Jessica said. "I've already graduated, so I'm blaming that."
