Fifth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Evening

Jessica needed a few hours of down time not spent reading reports. And so she trekked out to the common room for the joys of television! That was probably a bad idea. The only things on were America's Got Talent, I Wanna Marry Harry, something that seemed like a Latverian knockoff called I've Got Liftoff For Kristoff, and a really dumb-looking movie called Today We Kill, Tomorrow We Die.

She didn't know what was going on in the movie, but it didn't involve any Royal Joe Millionaire situations or talent competitions, so she was in. With popcorn. Because the movie was dumb and that was required.

"What is that?" Rapunzel asked, wide-eyed as she padded into the room.

(No one was in her common room. She'd had to go looking for someone to talk to.)

"Popcorn. Or a dumb movie. I'm not sure which one you're talking about offhand, but it's probably one of those two things," Jessica said, holding up the popcorn bowl to give the new girl a better look.

"I was asking about the movie but now I'm curious about this corn thing," Rapunzel replied cheerfully, tugging her hair through the doorway so she could wander over to Jessica and examine the bowl. "Is it exactly what it sounds like?"

She caught on quickly, this one.

"The movie is something called Today We Kill, Tomorrow We Die, and it's pretty much what you'd expect from something called that," Jessica said. "Which is also true of popcorn, actually. I'm apparently working on a theme tonight."

"Intellectual," Rapunzel said dryly, looking at the screen. "Can I try the popped corn? I mean, if it's for sharing. I've never had any before!"

Which was probably obvious, since she didn't know what it was until a few seconds ago.

"Fortunately, it's a communal snack," Jessica said, holding the bowl out. "But if you decide it would be better with some kind of topping, you're on your own. Fair warning."

"Do people usually put toppings on it?" Rapunzel asked, hesitantly taking a few kernels. "I don't want to do it wrong."

"A lot of people put butter on it. Or butter-like stuff. That was mostly before we as a species figured out that just eating a whole lot of butter was a bad idea, though," Jessica explained. "Personally, I prefer it plain."

Rapunzel wrinkled her nose at that idea. "Butter-like stuff?" she repeated. "Like...what is it really? Why would you put stuff on your food?"

She preferred it plain, too, it turned out.

"Oh, this is my favorite implausible action movie." They all were, let's be honest.

"I bet you say that to all the implausible action movies," Jessica said.

"Only most of them," Loki assured her.

"I'll buy that," Jessica decided. "I haven't seen this one yet. I'm guessing the hero kills a lot of people and then he kills the villain and at some point his partner dies?"

"I think there must also be a sexy love interest in there as well," Loki added. "Perhaps she will be Russian?"

"Considering the era, it's basically a given," Jessica said. "Punter's chance she's English. But she's definitely blonde."

"She'll have dark hair if she's actually working for the villain," Loki added, reaching over to steal some food.

"Blonde with dark roots, maybe, but still blonde," Jessica argued as she moved the bowl a little closer to Loki's grubby hands.

Yeah, you heard me.

"I feel as though we should play one of those drinking games with these movies," Loki replied thoughtfully.

"What makes this one so implausible?" Rapunzel wondered.

"The hero for one." He didn't believe you were capable of kung fu for an instant, Troy McClure!

"Why can't he be heroic? Listen to that voice," Rapunzel said, sighing a little.

Loki wrinkled his nose at that. "He looks as though he might be made of marshmallow."

"Sure, but anyone can be a hero!" Rapunzel said enthusiastically. "It's not about what's on the outside."

No, it's at least a little bit about that.

Loki gave her a look like he was trying to see if this was a joke. "Yes, I suppose one might say that."

"I mean, you could be a hero, I could be a hero, that guy could be a hero," Rapunzel said, pointing at some random extra. "It's about your character! So that marshmallow guy can be our hero. That's fine. What else is implausible?"
