Fifth Floor Common Room: Sunday Morning

After the events that took place in the warehouse Friday night, Barry was distancing himself from the place for a bit. Besides most of his experiments could be run remotely at the moment.

Barry was monitoring those experiments from his tablet while he ate his breakfast which consisted of a bowl of organic cereal and soy milk. On the TV was yet another horrible TV movie from SyFy which dealt with prehistoric sharks that could swim through sand.

"This movie is utter shit," Barry declared to no one in particular in between bites.

And yet he kept watching it while eating his cereal, monitoring his experiments and apparently designing something on his tablet that looked like a baseball cap.

Anyone coming by to agree or disagree with him would be welcomed.

"Right." Nathan blinked at the television but continued on towards the kitchen area. "Guess that means going into the sand or water isn't safe anymore. What's next, flying sharks?"

He hadn't been here during that invasion, obviouslyl

"Well on Wednesday they'll be showing Sharknado 2," Barry said gesturing at the TV. "They'll be flying then but because of a freak storm."

"Of course that would be a thing." This island and its entertainment was never not going to be strange. "You going to watch?"

Nathan dug into the refrigerator for some juice before reaching for some bread.

"Complete the set or something?"

"Fuck, yeah!" Barry said with a grin. "Shitty movies like this are fucking awesome. Are you not a fan "

Nathan shrugged. "Never really seen movies like this before coming here. I might be a fan but can't really say for sure. We didn't have a television back home. Not enough money."

"Oh," Barry said taking that in. "Well shitty movies aren't necessarily for everybody. They can be an acquired taste. Is there any kind of stories you prefer?"

"Haven't really read a lot of books either," Nathan admitted, slightly embarrassed. "I...can't read much. But, people have read me books before. I tend to like the survivor ones. The character against all odds, I guess."

He secretly likened himself to those people.

"Hmm. I think you'd be a fan of meta-for The Fugitive movie," Barry said thoughtfully. "A man wrongly on the accused on the run from the law."

"Sounds almost familiar," he muttered, shaking his head. "Does he manage to clear his name?"

"Well if you haven't seen it, I'm not going to fucking tell you the ending," Barry said with a grin. "Where's the fun in that?"

"Because I don't know if I ever will see it," Nathan argued albeit weakly. "Am I supposed to go around constantly wondering now?"

"It's probably on Netflix," Barry pointed out. "I could set it up for you right now if you want to watch it. If I tell you the ending then what's the point?"

Nathan didn't even bother with saying he knew nothing about anything called Netflix. It was probably assumed.

"You don't want to find out what happens to the sharks in the sand?" he asked, nodding at the television. "See if the win the...battle?"

"Meh," Barry said with a shrug. "It's not like won't be on again. And again. And again."

He picked up the remote and started change the menu around.

"Do you have anything you can watch movies on your own?" Barry asked. "I mean other than the lack of privacy of our common room?"

Nathan shook his head. "I don't. I don't think Soren does either so I can't really borrow anything. I didn't tend to watch a lot of movies back home. We didn't have a television and I was usually busy doing other things."

Namely being outside so electrical things wouldn't make him utterly sick.

"I have an old tablet I can give you," Barry offered, since he was oblivious to Nathan's issues with electrical things. "It can give you access to TV shows, movies... and there's some educational apps you can used to help you to read better."

At least it wasn't a mobile phone. Those were the worst. But, he was more caught up in something else besides the electrical issue.

"You want to just give me that?" Nathan asked, surprised.

Barry shrugged. "It's just sitting in my lab not being used by anyone. You'd get more out of it instead of it just gathering dust," he replied. "It's still better than most tablets on the market. Interested?"

"Yes," Nathan said sincerely. "Yeah, I'll owe you one if you wanna pass it along to me. I don't know what you might ever need from me but I can still owe you a favor or something."

"Eh, you don't owe me a fucking thing," Barry said with a wave of his hand. "You're just taking something off my hands that I'm not using it any more. Just... I don't know. Pay it forward or something fucking good like that."

"I can do that." Somehow. He'd find way. "Thanks. Maybe I'll even figure out how to use the thing without starting a fire."

He didn't think that was likely but he also knew how he was with technology.

"Set it on fire?" Barry asked. "How the fuck is that going to happen?"

Shrugging, Nathan said, "Don't know. But if there's a way, I'd find it."

Barry laughed in disbelief. "Really? You're not going to like... hold it under an open flame or anything right?"

He shook his head.

"No, I'm not that dumb," he said, chuckling at himself. "I'm just not the greatest with technology so I can see myself causing something virtually impossible to happen with your tablet."
