First Floor Lobby Saturday Afternoon

While this was a trying time for half the population of Fandom, Barry really couldn't pass up the opportunity to do some research on the phenomena.

So he was parked in the lobby with some cheek swabs and some lancets in the hope that some people weren't too traumatized to participate.

A sign was out saying:

DNA research for the recently transformed! $100 for DNA samples!

What? Science people!

There had been nakedness and boyparts that had required washing and Mara was still very fifteen.

"He's putting me through school here," she explained. "So I check in weekly."

With her brain.

"He doesn't react well to changes he didn't authorize."

"Soooo when things get weird he freaks out?" Barry asked. "And why is he putting you through school?"

Clearly Barry was failing as a big sib. How did he not know this stuff already?

"He's my guardian, basically," Mara said because "secret boss" was a little creepy. "And he's the Emperor of an entire galaxy. He's pretty used to things going his way all the time."

"You're not some kind of secret princess are you?" Barry asked with some raised eyebrows. "And if the guy doesn't like what happens around here he should've read the fucking brochure."

"Strangely enough, it didn't mention the random waking up as the wrong gender aspect," Mara said. "And I'm not a princess. I dance for the Imperial court."

If by dance you also mean "kill people."

"Ah. Okay," Barry said carefully. "Dancing. And just dancing. Nothing else right?"

Because Emperors and fifteen year old girls added up to something other than an assassin in Barry's mind.

He and Johnny could have a long talk about how skeevy the Emperor sounded, even through Mara's bias, and they would be so, so right.

"Just dancing," Mara said, nodding. "I've been dancing almost since I could walk."

And Barry didn't have a lot of faith in politicians either soooooo....

But Mara didn't seem to be hiding anything. Or at least Barrry didn't seem to think so."

"Well it's too bad you weren't around for parent's weekend. You could have made the talent show a little classier," he replied. "Then again it's probably good you weren't."

Mara smirked. "I heard something about a gremlin bite?"

"Yeah. Real fucking funny what it did," Barry said with an eye roll. "Pretty sure it's already on the internet."

"Is that an invitation for me to go find it?" Mara asked, wincing slightly as her voice cracked halfway through the sentence.

"Well it can't be more humiliated than I already was," Barry sighed. "Then again it's no worse than the way you woke up."

"I've been gremlin-bit too," Mara said ruefully. "I loathe them."
