2nd Floor Common Room; Thursday Afternoon
Okay, it was cold both outside and inside. Travis was pretty sure there was an icicle or two growing off his hair but he was going to try and make the best of it. Not that it was easy to make the best of a snowstorm and a power outage but doing something was better than doing nothing while freezing.
After his classes, he'd grabbed a bag of marshmallows from the refrigerator, jiggered up a few things that looked like sticks and used the fireplace in the common room as it should be used: to make s'mores.
So, he got to sit in front of the fireplace and be warm (though his several layers of clothes probably helped too) and he got to have delicious sweets. His cheeks were already a nice shade of pink by the time the first s'more was done.
Now he just had to hope that the fireplaces didn't disappear. That would suck.
[Tis open!]

As it was, she was staving off freezing by wandering around and looking for people to hang out with, so spotting Travis making s'mores was pretty much perfect. "Hey," she said, gratefully huddling close to the fire. "I'm liking the way you think, here."

Setting the robot-baby next to her on the floor, she glanced over to the supplies the Travis had laid out. "For sharing?" she asked. She was certain the answer was yes, but it just seemed wrong not to ask.

Which was why she wasn't just bundled up in her room with a booklight and a thick fantasy novel. Flick had come home looking exhausted and the last thing she wanted to do was have the robot shrieking its little head off while Flick was trying to sleep.
"I'm pretty sure than any amount of snow locks you in a building," she teased while sliding a few marshmallows onto her stick. "Because you look outside and realize there's no way in heck you want to go outside when it looks like that."
Forget the natural beauty of winter. Kathy would happily take LA's smog so long as it came with temperatures above freezing.

Maybe if you were ten but whatever, Travis had lost five years of his life, he still loved snow.

Kathy hadn't really been prepared for winter weather.

He shook his head and made a face.
"When it gets like that, I just sunburn. Everything gets red and then everything peels. And then I just whine until someone tells me to shut up."

It was a good face, Travis! Don't take the risk!

She rummaged through the cabinets until she found, "What's a 'Thin Mint?'"

He hadn't realized that he'd missed Girl Scout cookies until just now.
