'Somehow' (Kathy was blaming Dante), dinner at El Burrito Loco had involved not one but several alcoholic flights for them to share: it had started with a cerveza flight with appetizers, turned into a sangria flight before their entrees had come out, and finished up with a tequila flight right before they'd finished eating. It was the tequila flight that had done it; they had been just fine after the sangria, but the shots of tequila, even when divided between the three of them, had sent them right over the edge from 'pleasantly buzzed' to 'gigglng and tipsy.'

The trip home hadn't sobered them up much, which was why they'd somehow ended up in the first floor Rec Room instead of heading up the stairs to the third floor. It was also why the discovery of a fully-functioning karaoke machine was pounced on with delight. Normally, Kathy would have been all over the DDR machine in the corner, but karaoke was a much, much better idea--for one thing, there was far less movement involved.

"We are doing this," she informed the guys, plugging the machine in and pulling out the track listings. There were an insane number of tracks from all over the world. Kathy was shocked to find songs listed by prominent K- and J-Pop artists, as well as the standard fare of Broadway, 50s ballads, and 70's rock. "We are absolutely doing this. In fact, Dante, I challenge you to an 80s power ballad-off right now."

The first floor of the Dorms was in for a very long, very musical night.

Right, because anyone in the room expected Dante to sing 80s love ballads with sincerity.

"It must have been something you said! I just died in your arms tonight!" And was Kathy draping herself over him again? Of course! She was dead in his arms! The song made that point very clear. "Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight! It must have been some kind of kiss..."

Hey, he could do it with sincerity! ... If he was even drunker than he was now!

... He'd still not mean it, but it'd sound vaguely sincere!

Right now Dante was too distracted by her draping herself, though. He wrapped an arm around her to hold her up theatrically. "Some kind of kiss," he mused. "Don't think I ever realized how dirty this song is."

"I should have walked away!" Kathy said, sliding from his grip and dancing around to his other side. "I should have walked away!"

In the instrumental break, she leaned close to whisper in his ear, "I've lain limp in your arms after a few of your kisses." She was pretty sure he knew the type she was talking about. Then she bit him on his neck and spun into the next verse.

"Is there any just cause for feeling like this? On the surface I'm a name on a list. I try to be discreet but then blow it again!"

Kathy, there was nothing discreet about that expression.

Dante found that wall he'd been leaning against earlier and... leaned against it again. His half-hearted plans to get in on the singing had kinda been dashed now.

Why interrupt a good show?

Awww! Well, he could always join her for the chorus? Because sarcastically singing Dante was fun!

"I've lost and found it's my final mistake--she's loving by proxy, no give and all take!" Like her food, Dante. Like her goddamn food!

"'Cause I've been thrilled to fantasy, one too many times..." she sang, trailing a finger down the front of his shirt. This line was true enough anyway.

Dante laughed softly, and screw it, he'd dip in for the chorus, sure.

"Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight," he sang, "It must've been some kind of kiss--!"

He winked at her. Of course he did.

Of course he did. She also fully expected Dante to steal the first few lines of the next verse from her when he saw what they were.

"I just died in your arms tonight!" Oh, how had she ended up flung against him again? WHAT A MYSTERY? "Oh I, I just died in your arms tonight. It must have been some kind of kiss." And she was stealing another kiss from him, one that was half-bite. "I should have walked away! I should have walked away!"

Dante was too busy smirking into that nice, bitey kiss to realize there were new lyrics on screen.

He did steal the lines, but he was at least half a beat late as he sang, "It was a long hot night." He snagged her by her behind and added, "She made it easy, she made it feel right..."

"But now it's over, the moment has gone--I followed my hands to my head, I know I was wrong!" And she was slipping away, out of his grasp once more, staying just out of reach.

Nuh-uh, Dante. Couldn't catch her. Not once she was gone!

Dante sighed dramatically, shaking his head. "Fine, fine," he called. "Go die on somebody else!"

"Fine, I will!" Kathy cackled, flipping him off. "Or maybe I'll just die cold and alone, you heartless ass!"

She'd missed the next line, trading insults with Dante, so she jumped in with the one following it. "It must have been something you said!" She was back pointing accusingly at Dante again. "I just died in your arms tonight!"

And she was gracefully dropping to the floor, in lieu of anybody's arms.

"And you should have walked away?" Dante said, completely missing any attempt at even sounding like he was singing.

He had to pad over and nudge her with his foot.

Kathy held out a beseeching hand towards Anders. Surely he wouldn't let her die forgotten and lonely on this cold rec room floor!

"I should have walked away!" she wailed.

Anders didn't know the song at all, but he knew a cue when he spotted one. He nimbly -- well, nimbly for a drunk person -- sprang forward to take Kathy's hand.

He couldn't tell where they were in the song from looking at the lyrics, so he hopefully repeated what Kathy had just said.

"You should have walked away!" he agreed, tugging her towards him.

Dante let out a loud snicker. "I'm walking, I'm walking," he protested.

Of course, he was walking after them, not away, but details.

And just in case he was thinking of going anywhere else, Kathy's had flung her arm out to him anyway, intending on dragging him over to the couches if he wasn't coming of his own volition. But since he was, she flopped down, three-quarters on Anders, and started laughing.

"We are all ridiculous," she declared.

"Oof," Anders observed. "Completely ridiculous."

"Ehhh, we do it in style," Dante said, sinking down on the couch next to Anders.

Or collapsing own. One of the two.

Kathy maneuvered around so that her legs were slung over Dante's lap, even as she cuddled closer to Anders. He didn't mind having a lapful of Kathy, did he?

"Anyone else raring to do a musical number?"

"You could talk me into a duet," Anders volunteered, wrapping his arms around Kathy's waist. "Even though I sing even worse than he does."

Dante drummed an idle beat on Kathy's leg and shrugged. "Eh," he said. "I'm starting to lose the 80s vibe."

"We could always do a group number," Kathy suggested. She paused for a moment and then added, "Upstairs."

Not sayin', just sayin'.

"Well, I'm convinced," Anders said through a snicker, reaching to run a hand up Dante's thigh. "Dante?"

"Lemme think about it," Dante said, fingers moving to tuck some of Anders' hair behind his ear before sliding down the back of his neck. "Okay, I think you got me."

They'd almost certainly pass out in a tangled heap before it got too far, but hey! Until then it would be both hot and pretty. And by the time the boys woke up, Kathy would be gone, but they'd both be covered in blankets.

But for now, she was crawling off the guys and holding out her hands to pull them up with her. "Let's go," she said, heat in her eyes and promise in her smile.
