2nd Floor Common Room, Saturday Morning

Let's not go into detail about Lucille's reaction when she had woken up this morning. Let's just say she had been wondering at first whether this was a particularly strange nightmare. Waking up in a male body, and also discovering that she looked exactly like her brother, only about the same age as herself, had been, to say the least, disturbing.

Sha had managed to keep quiet, because she was good at that.

Then she discovered that she had nothing to wear, as her dresses didn't fit her (him? She was going to be confused about pronouns today), and the only thing that was wearable was a long dressing gown. She considered staying in her room, but eventually she got hungry, so she quietly snaked into the common room, hoping to be able to grab some breakfast before anyone noticing.

When Jalian had woken up and realized what the island had done again, she'd spent a bit of time grumpy, then a bit of time running exercises to make sure she could fight in this stupid male body if she had to.

Then she'd remembered that her little sister hadn't been through this before, and went to find Lucille.

Which...pretty much involved going to her room, knocking on the door, not finding her, and then walking around checking out every strange boy on the island. Fortunately, with her hair and eyes, Jalian herself was still pretty obvious.

Lucille jumped when someone entered the common room, and was about to flee even though she hadn't finished making breakfast. But the boy who entered the room did look very much like Jalian, and at least that was a relief.

"Jalian?"

She wrapped the dressing gown tighter around herself.

Jalian nodded. "Lucille?" she asked,l squinting. It was so hard to tell!

Lucille might be less obviously recognizable. "Yes. I woke up like this." Which Jalian probably had guessed already.

"Is this... has this happened before?"

Thorin's weekend was perfectly normal for a change. He would probably consider it his due after that one time he'd been female.

He'd find that not the case once he figured out who the newbie was. "Oh. Greetings. Are you new?"

Lucille's eyes widened somewhat when she saw who had just entered the common room. Without really thinking she said:

"Yes."

Being in this body was new, after all.

She was just so lucky that this whole school thing was a little iffy in his opinion. You just had tutors or apprenticed, okay? That's how things should be done.

"Thorin, son of Thrain. At your service," he said with a tiny bow of his head.

Please, go away, Thorin, although the moon would be very sad if you did.

Feeling too uncomfortable with the whole situation, Lucille forgot her manners, and just stared nervously at Thorin.

Hey now, if she ran across a surly, bearded lady dwarf, she would never leave him be.

"...do you have a name?" he prompted as though speaking to a small child.

No, she wouldn't.

"That is none of your business," Lucille snapped.

[dwarvenswagger]

Suuuuure.

"Pardon?" He just had the weirdest deja vu ever.

[crimson_sister]

"I said..." Lucille began, then shook her head. "Never mind."

If Thorin paid any attention to such things, this new boy was wearing a lady's dressing gown.

Oh, that would imply he cared to learn the fashions of men. It just looked like a nice-ish robe.

"Do you not have a name?" Now he was just being mean.

[crimson_sister]

"Why should I answer your questions, you..."

She sighed. "Go away, Thorin. Just leave me alone."

[dwarvenswagger]

"...Lucille?" Look, very few people addressed him as such.

[crimson_sister]

"No!"

But Lucille realized that it was futile to hide her identity now, so she added: "Yes. I have no patience with you today."

Mara flounced into the common room and flung her much larger body into the sofa. "I'm normally Mara," she announced. "You?"

With such a direct question addressed to her, Lucille just replied truthfully: "Lucille."

She looked quite unhappy.

[dwarvenswagger]

"Ah, it is one of those days." He should probably make sure Blue was well if this afflicted her as well.

[crimson_sister]

"So it appears." This was the worst day ever.

[giveherahand]

"I promise that it's not permanent," Mara said. "Just very, very annoying for a few days."

She yanked irritably at her sweat pants.

[dwarvenswagger]

"It does not last," he said, taking some pity on her.

"Please tell me there's real coffee down here," Alana announced as she wandered into the room. "Being a boy is bad enough, but if I'm a boy who can't find any caffeine you should just shoot me now."

"I don't even have anything acceptable to wear!" Lucille exclaimed. She was wearing a lady's dressing gown, which thankfully was very long.

"I have made tea," Lucille told Alana. Not that she knew who this was, but she assumed the boy was usually a girl.
