2nd Floor Common Room, Saturday Morning

Let's not go into detail about Lucille's reaction when she had woken up this morning. Let's just say she had been wondering at first whether this was a particularly strange nightmare. Waking up in a male body, and also discovering that she looked exactly like her brother, only about the same age as herself, had been, to say the least, disturbing.

Sha had managed to keep quiet, because she was good at that.

Then she discovered that she had nothing to wear, as her dresses didn't fit her (him? She was going to be confused about pronouns today), and the only thing that was wearable was a long dressing gown. She considered staying in her room, but eventually she got hungry, so she quietly snaked into the common room, hoping to be able to grab some breakfast before anyone noticing.

When Jalian had woken up and realized what the island had done again, she'd spent a bit of time grumpy, then a bit of time running exercises to make sure she could fight in this stupid male body if she had to.

Then she'd remembered that her little sister hadn't been through this before, and went to find Lucille.

Which...pretty much involved going to her room, knocking on the door, not finding her, and then walking around checking out every strange boy on the island. Fortunately, with her hair and eyes, Jalian herself was still pretty obvious.

Lucille jumped when someone entered the common room, and was about to flee even though she hadn't finished making breakfast. But the boy who entered the room did look very much like Jalian, and at least that was a relief.

"Jalian?"

She wrapped the dressing gown tighter around herself.

Jalian nodded. "Lucille?" she asked,l squinting. It was so hard to tell!

Lucille might be less obviously recognizable. "Yes. I woke up like this." Which Jalian probably had guessed already.

"Is this... has this happened before?"

"Once before when I've been here. It is very annoying." She shifted her shoulders, resettling her balance, and sighed. Then she took a better look at Lucille. "You need clothing?"

Apparently Mara is going to find Lucille some clothes, but Lucille wouldn't say no.

"Do you have clothes my size?" She was rather tall, after all.

Jalian shrugged. She was a bit shorter, but bulkier. "They might fit well enough. I only have trousers, though," she warned.

"Trousers would be more fitting now," Lucille replied. "It would be very kind of you."

[kenselvren]

"Trousers are always better," Jalian said. How could Lucille wear such awful heavy dresses all the time? "You want to come upstairs, or I can bring them here."

[crimson_sister]

"I can accompany you to your room," Lucille replied, now feeling a little relieved. Not that she wouldn't go back to wearing her dresses when she was her usual self again. There was nothing wrong with them!

"Come on, then." Jalian headed back out, leading the way.

Lucille followed, relieved not to have to spend the rest of the day in a dressing gown.

Up in Jalian's room, she pulled out the few pairs of sweatpants and t-shirts she'd bought for these occasions. Not knowing what size she might be, she'd overestimated a bit, but that's what drawstring waists were for, right?

She wasn't nearly as fashionable as a male, but it wasn't like she cared what she looked like as a male, so.

The clothes were dreadful, but Lucille wasn't going to complain or even let Jalian notice what she thought, because anything would be better than what she was wearing now. Picking up a pair of black pants and a black t-shirt, she disappeared into the bathroom to change.

It was awkward to get dressed without looking at her body. There was some fumbling and accidentally hitting the sink with her arm.

Don't worry, Lucille; Jalian didn't think much of them, either. It was mostly about body-coverings, since this place seemed to care about that. And it was still a bit cold out.

"Luckily this doesn't last long," Jalian told her through the door. It was the one saving grace.

Lucille emerged from the bathroom. "I don't see why it has to happen at all," she replied.

The clothes were a bit to short for her, but at least they were clothes.

Jalian grimaced in agreement. "I've never heard a reason for it, except for the island is strange. It may have something to do with so many timelines meeting and crossing here, so that it can maintain that sort of connection or find a balance between them. Or maybe it really does have whims."

[crimson_sister]

The clothes felt strange to her; no corset to support her for one thing. Lucille straightened a little. "I suppose I shall just have to endure these things, annoying as it may be. The island has other advantages."

"It does," Jalian agreed. "It's annoying being male, but tolerable for a little while."
