Dorm Roof, Saturday Morning
Thorin had almost liked the last place this forsaken island had taken them. But the new one was a little... strange. And spacey. Mostly the spacey part.
Give him attempts at high fantasy any day, yo.
So, for now he wassulking enjoying his morning on the roof of the dorm. If he didn't pay too much attention, it was almost like being on one of the parapets of Erebor.

"Oh," she said, looking disappointed. "Good morning."

"How are you doing?" she asked, looking out over the edge of the roof.
no subject
Which was for the best, really.
"I am well. You were not at the 'picnic'."
no subject
"I was not," Lucille said. "I fell into a strange sleep and lost almost two weeks."
That was still not something she was comfortable with.
"Did you meet any of the new students?"
Or had he just been sulking somewhere and eating the food?
no subject
"I did meet some," he replied. "Are you well?"
Careful, that sounded like you cared, Thorin.

She didn't expect he would have.

Lucille was well aware that he had said no such thing.

Thorin hummed in vague agreement. "To look upon a strange land."
Damn aliens. Why couldn't they stay with the orcs and dwarves?
no subject
"Does it bother you?"
no subject
"I much preferred the one before it," he said stiffly.
no subject
Lucille hadn't seen much of it.

Thorin rolled his eyes like the mature, respectable prince he was. "So you did go to see that land?"

Because they were prettier than the Dwarves, Lucille.

Thorin raised his eyebrows. "Some were purple."

He was. He totally was.

Perhaps they could play the game of who breaks the silence first?
no subject
Because he was hella stubborn.
It might have looked like they had a companionable silence going to outsiders. Those outsiders were so wrong.

That squirrel was way to hopeful.
Thorin just put his hands on the ledge of the roof and looked extra stoic. As one does.

Lucille wrapped her shawl tighter around herself, and looked quite composed, as she was admiring the landscape all by herself.

The level of stubbornness here was so high that it as a wonder people nearby weren't affected by it. Like a wave of stubborn idiocy infecting the rest of the dorm.
While Thorin pretended not to notice her at all.
C'mon, guys. Seriously.
