Main Campfire, Saturday Morning

Lucille had, like everyone else, woken up this morning without memories. This was strange, and obviously disturbing, and as the only things she could find in her strange home, apart from clothes, were two romantic novels, a collection of poetry and a phone, she had packed these in a small bag and left, hoping that the world outside would make things clearer.

It hadn't, which was why she was now sitting in front of a burnt out campfire, reading a novel called The Rose of Orlais.

Thorin had weaponry and semi-precious stones in his belongings. Which was... a thing.

Yeah.

"Oh," he said upon coming across another person in his perturbed wanderings. "Hello."

He was just a little short. Honest. Nothing weird about it.

"I--I'm not certain. I woke up here." He glanced up at the strange sky. "Wherever here may be."

"No, I did not see any books when I woke. Do they explain something of this place?"

And why he didn't know it. Or his own name.

Tip had found a notebook first thing upon waking up this morning, which turned out to be really incredibly useful, as it immediately identified herself as "Tip Tucci" (a kind of stupid name, but she didn't feel like a thief, so she figured it was probably hers) and explained that she had an alien best friend she wrote a lot of letters to and little diary entries about. Which she'd been sure must be fiction until she looked up and noticed she was in a bubble staring at space.

"Hey," she said casually as she came up to the campfire. She didn't want to tip (ha) her hand too quickly about the amnesia thing. Maybe she and this girl were friends, or maybe they hated each other. Or maybe they'd never met. She'd have to play things by ear. "How's the book?"

"Which does not help my predicament at all." Yes, Thorin. Everyone was in that boat. Calm down, pal.

If this girl didn't know here than they must not have met. "Don't think so," she said. "I'm Tip."

"You don't?" Well that deflated him a little. Ugh, it was the worst.

"You don't know your own name?" What was the odds of two teenage girls with no memories waking up in space together?

Okay, admittedly once you had any one of those details going, the others didn't seem quite as weird anymore. Maybe it was a big alien conspiracy. They were abducted as part of an experiment on human memory. . . .

"I have a few books," Tip said. "The one on top has an alien on the cover."
intotheout: (huh)

"Yeah, as far as I can tell it's a romance about a teenager and an alien invader. And I -- um." She pulled her notebook out of her pocket. "I found my diary."
dwarvenswagger: (talking at you)

"No," he admitted grudgingly. "Nor did I find anything that explained who I may be."

A beat.

"Save for a necklace with 'Son of Durin' on it."

Which honestly didn't help at all.

"Middling quality," he answered without thought. Which was sad because he made that thing when he was but a wee lad.

"You know, like an alien," Tip said. Everyone knew what aliens look like, right? "Like someone used a frog as a balloon after gluing a bunch of extra stumpy legs on it."

"If I knew the answer to that, I assure you, I would answer." Aww, there was the surliness again.
