So, it hadn't actually been a dream, after all. Margaery didn't know whether she was disappointed or not when she opened her eyes this morning and once more wasn't greeted with the vaulted ceiling of her bedroom at home. On the one hand, she had no idea how to get back, or whether she could even contact her family at all. On the other, this place already seemed much more fun than she'd thought school would be. So perhaps staying awhile wouldn't be the worst idea.

She'd lazed abed for a while, and would blame the ache of being on horseback for two days if anyone should have questioned it, before finally rising and making her way out to face the land of the living. After retrieving an apple from her common room - she was immensely grateful to see something she recognized right away - Margaery made her way down to the deck she'd noticed the day prior to work on the first of several letters. She had always worked on her correspondence in the garden at home, and it was far too beautiful a day to develop a hand cramp indoors.

By her count, she had five letters to write to start, and so she'd brought her inkpot with her, as well. But she found, once she had quill in hand, that she had no idea how to start.

"'Dearest Grandmother, did you know you were sending me to another world?'" she tried out loud. "No, that's horrible."

Five variations on that later, and Margaery had a collection of crumpled parchments at her feet and was vaguely wondering if she should just write to Loras about the shirtless boys. That seemed easier to discuss.

Margaery looked confused for a long moment before remembering. "Earth is the name of this world, right?" she checked. "Or - that world?" She, too, gestured toward the causeway. "What are dinosaurs?"

They didn't sound like anything nice.

"My world, yeah," Tip said. "What do you call yours?" This girl was from way back, apparently. When did people discover dinosaurs? Tip wasn't sure. "Dinosaurs are these really, really ancient creatures. Giant reptiles that lived on Earth millions of years before people showed up. They're not supposed to live in the same time and place as people, but -- in that place they did."

"Westeros," Margaery, without any hope of recognition. She'd lost that somewhere throughout the day before. "I'm not sure if our - if the whole world has a name. That's my country, though - the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros." She thought it might be a bit like the United States that Ringo had explained, possibly, though she much preferred having only seven regions to keep track of.

She tilted her head curiously. "Have you heard of dragons?" she speculated. "Because that's what dinosaurs sound like, to me."

"Dinosaurs are probably what dragon myths are based on," Tip said. "At least in my world." She'd been turned into a pony this summer, she was no longer willing to discount anything about anyone else's world. "People found these giant ancient bones and came up with all sorts of creatures to explain them."

"Dragons are real, in Westeros," Margaery explained. "Though no one's seen one for hundreds of years. Kind of like dinosaurs, it sounds like - except dragons did coexist with men."

Or at least with the Targaryens.

"So they've gone extinct? A bunch of animals in my world have gone extinct since people showed up." She wrinkled her nose. "Humans are really good at wiping things out."

"Most of the dragons were killed in a war," Margaery agreed, nodding. "The family that kept them had a civil war, so dragonrider fought dragonrider. And then they just stopped hatching after that, and the winters got longer, and if you believe the stories, magic went out of the world entirely - did the animals that went extinct in your world affect the environment when went extinct?"

She was of the opinion that that was why people cared to mention the dragons from time to time, still - they'd taken magic with them, which affected people in the present.

"Yeah," Tip said. "I mean. Sort of? It kind of goes both ways. The environment changes as the animals die, but the animals dying disrupts the balance of nature and things about the environment change. I'm not sure one species would affect the whole climate, though." She shrugged. "But, I mean. My world doesn't have magic at all, so."
