In Home Ec they had been taught how to make bread, and although Lucille hadn't been particularly successful until Hyacinthe came to her assistance -- which had been enjoyable -- she knew it was a skill that she might come to need in the future, even if she might not admit that to others.

Reading recipes, it seemed like making scones was easier than making bread, which was why the smell of newly made scones filled the common room. They didn't look pretty and Lucille herself had flour in her hair and on her dress. Hopefully they would taste good, and would make a nice breakfast.

Perhaps Cassandra would like them too? She might save some for her, even though they would be better fresh from the oven.

"Proof of my newly awakened desire to learn baking," Thorin replied dryly.

"And just what do you even consider proof?" He wasn't going to believe anything she said here. Nothing.

"Baked goods," Lucille replied. "That should be easy enough."
