Second floor common room- Sunday afternoon

Yesterday Sabine had gone shopping, marked all her stuff with her symbol because even if it didn't keep anyone from stealing it if she ever saw it she'd know it was hers, and put everything away.

Today she went into the fridge to get a soda and...

"Come on, it hasn't even been a day!"

She was going to have to start making booby traps.

Prompto bounced into the common room, heading straight for the cabinets, but he all but skidded to a halt when he realized someone was already in there.

He...didn't exactly know the rules about scavenging through other common rooms yet; if it was empty, sure, fair game, but he wasn't about to step into a gaffe right in front of someone if he could stop himself.

"Yooooo, Sabine!" He grinned a little sheepishly, gave a mid-range wave, and ducked that hand behind his neck. "Uhh, you guys...don't, like, have any Cup Noodle down here, do you? I...could have sworn I bought some the other day, but they're, like, no where to be found."

"You, too? Okay, that makes me feel better."

It didn't make her feel better. It was actually more annoying.

"Oh, there might be some around. Who knows where stuff's ending up these days."

That was an...interesting answer. Prompto frowned at Sabine for a moment before going ahead and turning to peek into one of the cupboards.

Alas, no delicious Cup Noodle, though he wasn't really expecting there to be any.

"Have things been going missing or something?"

"My stuff has, at least," she said. "Have you been seeing anything with my symbol popping up anywhere?"

She guessed not. But she had to check.

"Your...symbol?" Prompto asked, as his mind went into a delicate little whirlwind of questions. Had she told him about a symbol? Did he forget? He didn't have a symbol...should he have one? Did everyone get one? What would his symbol even be?

...probably a chocobo.

Yeah. Definitely a chocobo.

Sabine pointed to the orange firebird on her breastplate. "I put it on my stuff."

"Ah, okay," said Prompto...who realized just then that he was pretty good at checking out the symbol on her breastplate without checking out the symbol on her breastplate too much...he hoped. "Cool. I'll keep an eye out. Buuuut, I'm pretty sure I haven't seen that anywhere. That I can recall. Then again, I haven't been looking, either."

"Honestly, I thought I was going crazy till you came in," she admitted. "It's probably hidden away in a gremlin cave somewhere."

She didn't know what kinds of things they liked besides rum, okay.

"A gremlin cave?" Prompto asked, looking thoughtful for a second, and then hopeful. "Should we go look for it? Like, a quest or something? That's a thing people do, right? We can go hunting for your missing stuff. And possibly my Cup Noodle."

Actually not his Cup Noodle. He actually put those in in his room and forgot.

"No," Sabine told him emphatically. "Not unless you want to be walking around hallucinating that you're something embarrassing."

Prompto was equal parts relieved and disappointed by that one, really, if he was honest with himself.

But he still narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. "How embarrassing are we talking about here?"

"One girl turned into a Southern belle-" Sabine had had to look that up. "-and my roommate was wandering around looking for her godmothers. So I have no idea what they'd do to you."

"You know that only makes me more curious, right?" Prompto just had to make sure. "But...probably not curious enough. Yet. I take it you've never had to deal with this this personally?"

"I've seen one in here before," she said, and shrugged. "I left him alone and he didn't try anything. I'm never getting bitten if I can help it, though."

At some point, of course, she wouldn't be able to help it.

"Should I...make sure to have my camera ready in case you ever do?" Prompto asked, now dangling said camera somewhat tauntingly up.

It was, of course, a rhetorical question. He would always have his camera ready.

"Where did I steer you wrong, Prompto?" she sighed. "Also you always have that thing."

"You're right," Prompto grinned. "I do always have this thing with me. And don't worry, Sabine. I was heading on the wrong track long before you got behind the steering wheel."

He said, having just actually gotten his life together and headed toward some sort of meaning and purpose for once, but whatever.

"That phrasing sounds like way too much responsibility,"'she noted. "So what is the reason behind the camera always being around?"

Prompto's grin went a little sheepish and shy, and he turned a little because, apparently, he needed to get a nice artsy shot of the television. "I dunno," he said. "My parents bought me one when I was a kid, and, you know, it," quick picture of the couch, "turned into a hobby, and then the hobby..." Tentative shot of Sabine next, maybe? "turned into a...y'know...passion."

And then his focus was all on the screen to see how those completely not taken to avoid directly engaging with someone on a personal level pictures turned out.

"I think I'd like to do it professionally one day. Maybe."

She figured she knew what she was doing, but in this setting she didn't care.

"Do you have them public anywhere?"

Lana stepped into the room, stopped, and eyed Sabine. "Something wrong?"

"My stuff keeps going missing, and my next step is to build really tiny paint bombs so I can find out who's doing it," she explained.

"You're sure it's not just in a different cabinet?" Lana asked, coming to help the search.

"Positive," Sabine sighed. "But it's okay. The paint bombs will help me find out what's happening and make me feel better."

It was the little things.

Lana grinned. "Spoken like a true artist and a true Mandalorian. You could also try surveillance; there must be some method here of keeping subtle watch."
