Second Floor Common Room, Saturday Morning
Vette had come home late last night from the bar, wired on weird Japanese sodas and feeling altogether disgruntled that, even at a party for people from her galaxy, she and Hera were still the only non-humans at the bar. She'd made her way into her room, muffled a frustrated scream into a pillow, and had let the siren call of the sugar crash sweep her away, laying there face-first on her bed, fully clothed and everything.
And so, when she'd woken up this morning, she at least had fewer problems than she otherwise could have had. Getting out of bed had been an adventure that had mostly consisted of climbing down the bedsheets. Getting out of the room had involved enlisting one of the squirrels as a guide through the walls with promises of a whole bottle of rum just for him whenever she was capable of lifting her wallet again. And, once she got into the common room...
She stood on the floor, staring up... and up... and up at the fridge, the tiniest Twi'lek to have ever graced the dorms with her presence, small and insignificant in the face of the impenetrable ziggurat looming before her.
"I HATE THIS PLACE!"

It also didn't hurt that Yang was in that class, too.
"And video games is awesome," he allowed, "but I kind of wish I did a different character. All he wants to do is just stand around and brood and be," his fingers danced in the air, "mysterious. I'm starting to wonder if I should try to get him killed off and start a new one instead."
no subject
Vette pondered that.
"I mean, broody guys can be fun," she mused, "if you can find a foil that'll drag them out, give them a good character arc, maybe a romance..."
She paused, and then a little sheepishly added, "Romance novels have easy enough language, that's how I'm teaching myself this stupid alphabet."

Aaaand that gave him enough time to decide that he couldn't leave certain tidbits hanging there without a little teasing after all, grinning back up at her with a faint snicker. "But romance novels, huh? You borrowing those from Nina? Trying to get some ideas while you're at it?"

She would be lying if she hadn't, like, at least considered anatomy things, considering who she was dating, but, uh. She wasn't ready for that, anyway. And she'd promised her mother she'd be married before she did. So.

Not that he planned on using any of it, because it was one thing to pursue a romance in a normal game, but something else entirely when that game meant the other characters were actual other people you knew, but...it did kind of sound like it could make a pretty good character for one of those stories, didn't it?

Seriously, she was so sad she didn't take this class, now. She could just keep coming up with this stuff.

But he seemed to shift back into focus with the second part, though. "And I really like that, too, kind of, like...breaking past your own cynicism, reluctantly, probably, to help someone else, kind of...protect them a little bit."
Yeah, he would latch on to a protection angle pretty quickly, wouldn't he?
"That I might be able to use."
no subject
She was. See? See how helpful she could be, even at four inches tall?
"So, it's like a... video game adventure thing?"
no subject
He was, if anything, adaptable.
"Kind of!" he grinned. "It's in the Danger Shop, and, like, we all had to pick and create our own characters, but the idea was to make something different from yourself, because I guess the point of the class is that we're supposed to be able to look at a problem in ways we're not used to looking at it, sort of challenge ourselves to think differently. But it's....basically just like a real-life video game, and we work together to solve the problems, like, so far, we've had to bust out of jail and figure out a deal with a bunch of kobolds..."
no subject
"I don't even know what a Kobold is," Vette noted, "and I'm already sad I didn't take that class."
Seriously.
"Busting out of jail would be super easy today, though."
no subject
But his faintly amused look turned a bit speculative as he glanced at Vette, tilting his head.
"You knooooooow," he said, a bit cautiously, although, really, he was kind of surprised he hadn't told Vette about it yet, "it's not the same as a class or anything, buuuuut....there's this abandoned store in town, you know, that has these Danger Shop rooms, you can go in there and program whatever you like. We could totally set something up in there and not even worry about being graded for it or anything."
Mae, you were so going to regret telling this boy anything about that place.
He bit his lip a little as if actually trying to hold back his grin. "Yang and I actually went in there on Thursday." On a daaaaaaate. "It was awesome."
no subject
"Wait, program whatever you like? Really?"
This was a thing she needed to see in order to believe.

He paused, for dramatic effect.
"If we're ever back to normal size."
They could actually probably do it at this size, too, sure, but it would be, like, a month long quest in and of itself, probably.
no subject
"... We better not be stuck this way," Vette said with a frown. "It's really hard to grab treasure at this size, you know."
no subject
And he chuckled a little, sobering slightly at the end with a shrug. "And, I mean, it's got to pass, right? Just like when people turn into animals or that one time everyone turned into kids. Unless it's not just...y'know..." His hand waved vaguely, "island stuff and there's actually a reason we all woke up like this, in which case we should probably find out what it is and probably, I don't know, fix it."
