Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [05/17].
There was, that morning, a low, disgruntled humming sound emiting from deep within the throat of the young, broad-shouldered man stooping slightly to peer into the refrigerator that seemed to no longer hold any of the fine produce and ingredients that he had picked up for Monday morning breakfast anymore, but instead held a lot less and nothing that seemed particularly appetising.
Least of all because Wayne got this distinct feeling that things had changed again, and, really, now, if you were going to be a weird island with things like aliens and talking cats and dogs and magic and whatever the fuck else, it seemed that the least you could do was just stay the same type of weird for a while instead of going and mixing it up and giving everyone fucking whiplash all the time. It just seemed impolite; get your shit together, island. Clean it up.
The cabinets didn't seem to fare much better, though he did find a few bags of potatoes and an exorbitant amount of potatoes (not very good potatoes, really, they were some of the saddest potatoes he'd ever seen, but they'd do) and canned gravy in there.
And if a good old Canadian country boy like himself couldn't make do with potatoes and gravy (and some mystery meat, too), well, then, he might as well just turn in his citizenship right now, pack up, and move on out to El-Laaaay to go eat tah-cos and go hiking, fuck.

Nina looked a bit taken aback by the growl he gave.
"I'm sorry," she said, though part of her wasn't sorry at all. "Should I, like, not bring up how things changed when they do?????????????????"
That was, like, sort of short-sighted, wasn't it, Wayne?

The rumble in his throat that responded took on a slightly different tone, still pretty disconsolate, but with the reluctance of a stubborn man who still knew a lost cause when he saw one. It might have even sounded a little...petulant.
"Be better," he grumbled, "if things just decided to sit tight and hold on for more'n five seconds, if you ask me."
Which she had, so there.

"Well," he said gruffly, "someone ought to tell it to pump the brakes a little, eh? Oh, better yet, how 'bout we stomp the brakes, put all these ideas, all these..." He sucked in a breath. "...changes right through the fuckin' window?"

On one hand, she was mostly enjoying the changes that happened every week.
On the other hand, that sounded like an adventure.
"How do you, like, think we could go about kicking all of this… stuff…………. out the window??????????"

....buuut....
He stopped, looking thoughtfully squinty for a long moment. Because here he jadn't had a good fight...or any fight, for that matter, since coming here, and maybe that was what really needed changing around here.
"I don't...knoooowww," Wayne admitted slowly, "but I suppose maybe we should find ouwt. Can't be coming from nowhere, right?"
Yes, actually, Wayne, it could.
"We just have to find ouwt...where it is coming from..."
Wayne.
Wayne.
You can't beat up an island, Wayne.
But what kind of 10-ply degen would he be if he didn't at least try?

Yes, because wandering right into danger when people cared enough to worry was the sane, sensible thing to do.
Nina.
"I bet, like, the place where it's the most changed would be the center of it all????????????????" she suggested.
Nina, no.

There was a...slightly worried pause there, brow furrowing as he turned concerned eyes toward Nina for a moment. He honestly couldn't tell for sure if he knew which way was up, actually, so he slowly lifted a finger, pointed it questioningly toward the ceiling, and looked at her hopefully for a confirmation.
Just to make sure.

"Yes," she said, doing her level best to keep from giggling. "Yes, that is still up!!!!!!!!!!!!"
This week, at least?

"Well, then," he said, "pitter-patter. Where should we start?"
He didn't have many plans on a Monday other than breakfast anyway. He was hoping to just kayak around the flooded island a bit, but that clearly wasn't going to be an option anymore, so he supposed his schedule just got pretty much cleared right up.

But she could claim she hadn't seen it...
And this did sound more exciting than class…
"I do have a class to hit up……….," she admitted. "But we could, like, try the park after???????????????"
Alas, Nina liked class. She couldn't quite bring herself to just flat out skip it.

Of course, Wayne had yet to look outside, and he would likely think otherwise once he got there.
...but he would get in a few of those fights on the way...just not quite the ones he was used to.

She bounced a little, in her seat, though she was careful not to dislodge her plate.
"But, yes, definitely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The park afterwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina beamed at Wayne. "It'll be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
