Third floor common room- Monday morning

Sabine had been pretty scarce after the whole Toymaker thing. Even after she felt better about it, she hadn't much wanted to deal with people. But new kids would be here soon and classes would be starting and so she finally decided she had to get out of her room. It was breakfast day, anyway, maybe she could hang out and see if anyone hated her?

So she went up to the third floor and... no Wayne, no breakfast.

"Well, that's new."

[Someone had to! Open!]

Mae burst into the room at high speed, still reveling in not being stuffed. And having a mouth.

"I DEMAND SUSTENANCE!!!!!"

She looked around and blinked.

". . . Where is the breakfast friend?"

Mae shrugged and nodded. "That'd be fair." She went over to raid the pantry and the fridge. "Let's see, I guess I could make us something."

Bowls of cereal. Mae could make cereal.

Don't let anyone else's narratives fool you. There was definitely something weird going on this week, because Prompto Argentum was up early on a Monday morning. Something was definitely not right with that!

Buuuuut, being up early on a Monday for a chance meant maybe Prompto could get in on those Monday morning breakfasts he'd been hearing so much about (and maybe enjoying some leftovers in the fridge on occasion, too!). So, since he wasn't sleeping anyway, he drifted on over to the common room with a hopeful sort of hop in in his step.

Peek in.

Ambled in.

Frowned.

"Aww, man, did I miss it? Am I too late?" Then he blinked. "Too early???"

This was all too early for him right now, if he was honest.

"Hey, gotta do my part, right?"

She climbed up on top of the cabinet to look for bowls. This was definitely going to result in broken crockery somewhere.

Possibly deliberately and with a certain degree of glee.
thishouseishaunted: (Mae is short (listen to your elders))

[personal profile] thishouseishaunted 2019-08-26 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm making cereal," Mae told him.

It seemed to be a process that required climbing over the cabinets and possibly scaling the shelves in the pantry. In her defense, Mae was very small.

Prompto blinked at least a few more times while his foggy morning brain processed things like information and words.

Then he sighed, throwing up his hands. "Oh, sure," he said, "the one time I'm actually up early enough for breakfast Mondays, and the dude's not even here! Mondays are my sleeping in days, Sabine! What are the odds??"

It was like some mysterious force prevented him from ever being in this same room with that other guy on the same day for some unknown but brain-saving reason!

"Nope!"

Yeah, probably.

"I mean, you can if you want, but I can totally handle cereal."

"...I like cereal," said Prompto, tilting his head a little at such kitchen climbing capers, then he grinned a little. "You wanna hook a dude up, Mae? What've we got?"
thishouseishaunted: (kinda smiling)

[personal profile] thishouseishaunted 2019-08-26 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure," Mae said. She peered at the boxes. "We have . . . corny things. Oaty stuff. And brightly colored balls of sugar."
thishouseishaunted: (on a -- thing)

[personal profile] thishouseishaunted 2019-08-26 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm short," Mae explained. "Also, why not climb on things when you can?"
hashtag_chocobro: (oooooooh)

[personal profile] hashtag_chocobro 2019-08-26 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oooh, brightly colored balls of sugar, please!" Prompto chirped with a grin. "The more sugar, the better, right?"

And somewhere, far away, in the far reaches of rural-ass Ontario, Wayne felt a sudden surge of anger over apparently nothing at all.

But, to be faiiirrrrr...Wayne felt sudden surges of anger over apparently nothing at all about twelve times a day.

hashtag_chocobro: (i dunno!)

[personal profile] hashtag_chocobro 2019-08-26 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, I mean, sure," Prompto agreed, albeit in a sort of reluctant way. "We'll survive, there's almost always still food, but...it's the principle of the matter, Sabine."

And more proof of his own dumb stupid bad luck, he guessed.
thishouseishaunted: (band practice)

[personal profile] thishouseishaunted 2019-08-26 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sugarrrrrrrrrr," Mae agreed happily. "I'm also a fan of the two other food groups: fat and grease."

There was a reason Mae was round.

She grabbed the box of brightly colored balls of sugar and tossed it down to Prompto. Cereal acquired! Now they needed milk and spoons and probably some sort of container.
hashtag_chocobro: (hopeful look up)

[personal profile] hashtag_chocobro 2019-08-26 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Prompto, for all his lithe musculature, knew how that went all too well...

This breakfast alone was going to be probably two extra hours in the gym, which, as it turned out, was also really good for distraction from other things.

Much like food, actually! What a vicious, exhausting cycle.

But milk? Spoons? Bowls? Mae. Prompto was totally just going to eat this cereal by the handful for now. But at least he poured some from the box into his hand instead of just shoving those mitts straight in. He could at least respect a few rules of communal food.

"'Fankth, Mae," he said, around that first handful, lifting the box in salute to her sugary breakfast procurement skillz.
thishouseishaunted: (suspicious)

[personal profile] thishouseishaunted 2019-08-26 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Mae blinked at that, a little annoyed. Mostly because she hadn't thought to do it herself.

But also: who ate cereal without milk? The colored sugar turned the milk funky colors! That was half the joy, Prompto!

"You're welcome, heathen," she said, hopping down from the shelf to go in search of milk and a bowl. "You're also sharing once I get a proper milk-container ready."
hashtag_chocobro: (cheesy grin in red)

[personal profile] hashtag_chocobro 2019-08-26 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
And that grin Prompto offered in response was definitely one of a heathen, unrepentant.

"Hey," he said, "if all this cereal is gone before you manage to procure a proper milk-containing vessel..." He shrugged, popping in another handful of cereal. "Can't be helped. I'm not going to blamed for your slowness."

He'd just spent the week with his boys, they'd clearly stuck with him a little, he still lived by the rule of food law that could only belong to three growing teenage boys and their one mom friend.

It was every food container for itself.

"I literally just handed that food to you, but yeah, okay, be terrible."

She would judge you, Prompto. She would judge you so hard.
