Third Floor Common Room; Friday Afternoon [11/29].

You know, Prompto might not really celebrate Thanksgiving (with the exception of massive handwaved parties with adorable animals with a giant fish prince), nor did he really understand it, but he couldn't help being completely down with a holiday that resulted in the fridges in the common room being absolutely stuffed with leftovers.

He might feel a little bit differently next week, when those leftovers were still definitely there, but it was Friday, he had no classes, he'd gotten in his newly established Friday-morning-after-radio workouts, and so he was ready to throw together a small microwave-friendly feast, plop down on the couch, and have a look-see at the television to see if anything good was on.

There usually wasn't, but he was just here to veg out, anyway.

Prompto was so tempted to ask, for probably the millionth time, exactly what the big deal with the peanut butter, but he was still too a little afraid of exactly what sort of tirade it would spark.

"Then I shall be there Sunday," he declared instead. "I'll hardly want to miss the daemon social event of the season, after all."

Gods, the things that came out of his mouth these days.

Honestly, he was really blowing the whole peanut butter thing out of proportion.

"Good," she said happily, satisfied with that. "He's so excited for it, honestly, even though it's been a huge amount of work to figure out how to summon that many specific jelly demons here for a party, like, it's totally going to be worth it, just for him!!!!!!!!!!!"

...

... Foomy was maybe a little spoiled.

Maybe just a biiiiit.

Prompto, meanwhile, was just going to take a moment to assure himself that all these specific jelly daemons had to be along the lines of, like, different berries and marmelades and what not and not, like, oh, here's one super evil jelly daemons and this one is the jelly daemon that eats souls...

And he also wondered just how excited Foomy really was and how much of it was just Nina being Nina when it came to liberal interpretation of burbles, but he was definitely more than willing to let her just have that one.

"How many are you even planning on inviting?" he asked, with maybe just a hint of worry creeping into his voice, because, well...this was Nina.

Nina sighed. Again.

"Foomy," she said, with a hint of despair, "is the youngest of forty seven children. He's grandchild number two hundred seventy eight. He has one hundred thirty-four and a half nieces and nephews."

A beat.

"One of his sisters is pregnant," she said, to explain that 'half'. "And that's not counting all of the cousins and second cousins and friends....................."

There were going to be a lot of jelly demons was what she was saying.

There was a long, long pause.

Part of that pause was actually attempting the math.

Another part of that pause was wondering why he was even trying.

"Do we even have room for all those jelly daemons, Nina?"

"I mean, they're little," she said, a touch defensively.

"Yeah, but...I mean....a lot of little things can still...y'know...become a pretty big thing."

But Prompto quickly lifted a hand.

"But I'm sure you've got it all covered and figured out, I have complete faith in you."

Well...

...he had faith in the fact that he was going to wind up probably helping to clean up after a lot of jelly daemons on Sunday.

... Most likely, yes.

"I just don't want them in the pool," she fretted, since she still didn't know if they could swim and that just sounded terrible. "I was, like, maybe the ball pit????????????"

Because they'd probably have fun with that!

"The ball pit definitely did cross my mind as a potentially good spot," Prompto admitted, finding a crooked grin. "Much better than the pool, for sure."

But still a pit full of squishy daemons, which, blech.

He'd just try not to think about it too much, and remind himself that it meant a lot to Nina, and that was the important part.

But they were adorable!

"And there's more room up on the 6th floor than in the pool," she said, with a bit of a sigh. "Maybe, like, I can set up a kiddie pool for those that really want some water???????????????????"

Okay, a kiddie pool with some jelly daemons in it was legitiately cute, but that probably had a lot to do with the fact that it would all be so contained and...small.

"That's a pretty good idea, actually," Prompto said. "Or even just a few kiddie pools without water, too, for them to just sort of chill in. Who doesn't love a kiddie pool filled with jelly daemons?"

"I'm sensing some sarcasm there," Nina noted, grinning at him. "Come on, Prompto, they won't hurt you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Foomy was pretty darn harmless, really.

"I wonder if we could even have, like, one filled with sand..................."

"I know Foomy wouldn't hurt a fly," Prompto informed herm "It's just his half a million relatives I'm not entirely sure about!

"Sand could be good, too," he then allowed. "Maybe a couple other pools of stuff, too. Water. Sand. Maybe pillows and blankets. Peanut butter..."

He couldn't help himself, sneaking in that one.

"No peanut butter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she insisted, going to elbow him in the side because, really, he knew better. "Yes, I know he loves it!!!!!!!!!!! But it's the only food he has that reaction to and, like, that's an allergic reaction that I don't know if it's hurting him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Which was actually not a super stupid reason to not feed her pet that. A lot, a lot, less stupid than 'because she thought he was cuter pink'.

Which he was. But that was just a bonus of not inducing allergies here.

Prompto hadn't even been remotely serious about peanut butter; could you imagine cleaning up after that?? But now he really did need to ask.

"Why would he keep eating it if it was hurting him?" he asked, like someone who definitely knew nothing about anything like that, honest! Well, he didn't! Because repression! "Also, you can know he wants all this fancy-ass stuff for his party, but not know whether he's allergic to peanut butter or not?"

"Uuuuuuuuuuuugh."

That was less at him and more at the whole situation.

"Foomy eats it because it tastes good to him," she explained. "Like how if I'm in a mad mood I'll eat a whole pint of ice cream or a whole box of cookies??????????????"

And then live with regret afterwards. Still, she was tactful enough to not bring up Prompto's food issues here since, like, she didn't want to hurt her brother.

"I'll feel sick after, right???????????? And, sure, that's not the same thing as an allergy, but it still hurts me and I probably shouldn't do it?????????????" Unless she wanted to live with a stomach ache and worse. "So, like, I get why he wants to keep eating it??????????? But it's literally the whole food he's tried that impacts him physically in anyway and he doesn't know and I don't know the whys or what the potential consequences of that impact could be???????????????? So I asked him if he'd be okay not exposing the rest of his family to it until we figured out more of why peanut butter does what it does to him????????????????"

"Right," said Prompto, "and that's fine, because, believe me, I am the last person that wants to expose a bunch of unknown daemons to a substance that we don't know how they'll react to, but my point is that I don't see what's wrong with giving Foomy a little peanut butter now and then if it's clearly not hurting him to have little. You don't get sick from eating a little ice cream, right? Why would it be bad if he were to have a little now and again, too? Everything in moderation."

So, yeah, try bringing up his own issues with food now! He clearly knew what he was talking about with that, right? And he honestly hadn't intended to come around to the point like that, but was weirdly impressed with himself that it just kind of...did.

"It's inducing a physical change when no other food does," Nina retorted. "That might not be hurting him, as in 'causing pain', but we don't know what it is doing to him!!!!!!!!!! That would be like continuing to drink milk if you got a rash every time you did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

As a wise plaid-clad hick once said, you could just power through that, if you really wanted to.

But, alas, Prompto did not know that, but it was still too good a reference to just completely ignore.

"If it was that bad," Prompto said, but his sigh was one of resignation, "I don't think he'd keep wanting to eat it. You said he's smart, right? So why would he be dumb about something like that? I mean, have you even asked him?"

"Yes????????????" she said, frowning. "Like, we came to an agreement about it for the party???????????? Of course we talked about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"But I'm not talking about the party, I'm just..." Another sigh slipped out of Prompto as he realized this was just turning into an argument he hadn't really intended to get into. "Never mind, forget I mentioned it."

He still didn't think he'd ever be convinced she wasn't just blowing the peanut butter thing just way out of proportion, though.

But, at the same, would she really be Nina if the didn't?
