The girls' bathroom- Friday afternoon

On spring break there had been a conversation, and after working out the design, it was time to actually do it. So Sabine was waiting in the girls' bathroom, setting out the supplies while she waited for Lana.

Usually there wasn't a chair in here, but then she usually wasn't doing this on someone else.

Lana breathed deeply and let it out. "What does the artist think?"

"The artist thinks you're nervous enough to get too daring yet," Sabine said, like she didn't have several other colors here. "If you want to add it in another time, we always can."

The nervousness was kind of adorable.

The nervousness was ridiculous! Lana had made it through the Academy on Korriban, and this was just hair!

"Right." She nodded. "So, leave it out for now, and we'll see how it looks?"

"Got it," Sabine nodded. "Remember, this is just a spray and will wash out in a few washes. If you hate it, it's just a couple days. If you love it, we can do something more permanent."

"Right." Lana grinned. "It should be interesting, no matter what."

"Exactly," Sabine said, and picked up a brush. "Do you mind?"

"Not at all." Lana settled in place and waited.

"When did you start doing your hair in colours?"

[seriesofbaddecisions]

"Years. I've always played with it," she said, starting the process of brushing her hair out so she could section it out and pin the top parts up for the moment. "I started doing this much with it when I left the Academy. Something about leaving regulation behind and doing what I wanted, I guess."

Lana smiled; the brushing was soothing. "Your military wasn't too accepting of colour, then?"

"They are the very opposite of color. Black and white and cold metal... No personality to it at all," Sabine shrugged. "It wasn't really my scene."

"I can't imagine you so colourless, no," Lana said. "What made you want to join, then? Duty?"

There was a little pause as Sabine pinned a section of hair up, and she said, "It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. I guess everybody's got to do something when they're young and dumb."

She was sixteen.

"I wouldn't know," Lana said honestly. "You don't get much chance for 'young and dumb' at the Academy on Korriban. I suppose I can understand it, though. Were there good parts?"

[seriesofbaddecisions]

"No," Sabine admitted. "What about the good parts of your Academy?"

[unusual_sith]

"I learned a lot," Lana said. "About using the Force and about our history. And about myself. Some of the other acolytes were good to know. It was dangerous and occasionally deadly, and the overseer I did my trials under was terrible, but I made it through."

"What I'm learning," Sabine said, "is you've probably got a more glass-half-full outlook on that stuff than I do."

Which was good to know, actually.

"Maybe?" Lana said. "Or maybe my Academy had more good qualities than yours."

[seriesofbaddecisions]

"Possibly," she conceded. "I just don't know that I could do it."

[unusual_sith]

"Do what?" Lana asked, curious. She wasn't doing anything unusual, was she?"

[seriesofbaddecisions]

"Go through the training you did," she clarified, picking up one of the bottles. "I'm going to spray."

[unusual_sith]

"All right." She'd been enjoying the brushing. "Which colour are we starting with?"

She thought of pointing out that nobody not Force-sensitive could go through that training, but that seemed a bit rude.

"Does that mean you want hints?" Sabine asked, shaking the bottle.

[unusual_sith]

Lana laughed. "Well, I'll see in a second, won't I?"

[seriesofbaddecisions]

"This part's red," she said, starting to spray the parts of her hair that weren't pinned. "What you're going to see right now is not the finished product."

"It's still interesting," Lana said. "Seeing how it starts and goes from there."
