The Roof | Wednesday Morning
Post radio, Nina had taken the time to make a parfait in the common room, then she'd grabbed her things and made her way up to the roof.
Like, her brother was spending a lot of time up here, which had given her an idea. She didn't really expect him to be up here this early, especially when there was no class, so working on her idea up here had seemed like a sound idea.
The fact that she could spread out a blanket and lounge on it as she worked her way through the art of designing a new spell in her notebooks was, like, just a bonus?
It was so nice out! If she were anyone else then, like, maybe it would be almost enough for her to forget that a lot of her favourite people were leaving shortly but she hadn't and she wouldn't.
Especially not since her Wednesday update to Noctis had been less an update and more a pile of questions about what Prompto would be doing for him in less than a week's time.
(At least, like, she assumed. Nina hadn't actually asked when Prompto was leaving because she didn't want to know the answer but at the same time the boyos were coming for graduation which… well… she didn't think he wouldn't go with them…)
The weekend was going to suck.
And Noctis, like, was actually paying attention because rather than answering her obsessive questions about her brother, he tossed one back at her instead:
Why don't you finish school in Insomnia?
Like it was that easy.
"Why are boys so stupid?????????????????????????!" she complained, even though the problem was, in this case, that he wasn't stupid at all and she just didn't want to deal. "Uuuuuuuuuuuuugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
[Open, of course! Noctis modded with permission naturally! <3 ]

Hmph.
"So, like, I don't think you're stupid so far today.............."
He was stupid for other reasons but those had, like, kind of taken a backseat due to graduation and her brother's leaving looming.

"Hey," Prompto complained, emerging sleepily from where he'd been to where Nina currently was, rubbing the back of his neck and trying not to think of what a mess his hair probably was (probably as much of a mess as his back from, you know, sleeping on the roof), "I resemble that remark."
no subject
"Youuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
And, like, she'd get on his case for eavesdropping except, like, wow that hair.
"You're sleeping up here?????????????????????"
no subject
Prompto gave Nina a crooked, rueful smile. "I didn't exactly mean to..."
Like, yeah, he was doing a whole thing about getting as many sunsets as possible in before he left, but why would anyone want to sleep on a roof when there was a nice comfy bed they could be in instead?

"You're just proving my point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina said, wriggling over so that he could plop down on her blanket if he wanted.
Her work, well, even though it was for him she wasn't worried about it spoiling the surprise. It was all arrays and collections of various configurations of runes and ancient languages at this point. He could look all he wanted.

He didn't really understand any of that stuff, anyway, a point that was made crystal clear when he blinked blearily at her work and didn't even bother to decipher it. Just like he didn't bother to wait for the yawn he failed to stifle was finished before he asked, "What'cha working on?"
no subject
"Mostly, like, just doodling???????????????????" she said, which wasn't entirely a lie. "Like, poking at various things I could improve for class and playing around with a few ideas I haven't figured out how to make gel yet................"
no subject
"You'll have to send me updates on those adventures," he said.
And, you know, updates on...everything, but that went without saying.

Maybe if she ignored it long enough it wouldn't happen?
Like, okay, she knew that wasn't going to work but the alternative was facing and accepting the fact that the only family she had was leaving the island.

He winced a little, though, and tried to cover it by just sinking against her a little more. "Sorry," he said, quietly. "It's kind of hard not to, you know, think about it..."
And hard, too, because he couldn't really talk to her about it, and it was weird having something they couldn't talk about, especially when he knew he definitely couldn't admit that, sad as he was to leave this place, he was really eager to just get back home again, and be with Noct, and finally earn his real place in the Crownsguard...
no subject
Well.
It sucked being left behind. A lot.
"I know," she said simply. "And, like, I'm happy for you, I'm just............."
Nina was not the slightest bit happy for her.

But what he didn't know was what to say after that, especially since anything that presented itself as a possible topic of conversation pretty much had to deal with everything going on with graduation or getting things ready to head back home.
So he just let out a soft breath of a laugh, grinned at her softly, and apologized again. "Sorry, my and my big mouth, right? Maybe I should do us both a favor and go find some food to stuff in it instead. You hungry at all?"
no subject
There wasn't much avoiding it at this point.
"I could eat," she allowed, with a bit of a laugh herself. "But if you don't come back I'm going to hunt you down, for the record!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Don't think she couldn't!
