2nd Floor Common Room | Sunday Morning
Now, like, she knew that Wayne would get his nose right out of joint if she tried taking over breakfast tomorrow but today, now, that was anyone's grab and she was up and at it bright and early, prepping all the food.
Because, sure, they'd been fed at the picnic yesterday but after the first night in a strange new place, well, who wouldn't want freshly made breakfast?
That was Nina's theory anyway.
She had the radio on, playing a bunch of pop songs that she hummed along with as she worked on setting out a spread truly worthy of the name breakfast.
Besides, like, it was a matter of pride since she was teaching cooking this semester…
For those who preferred lighter breakfasts, there was an assortment of yogurts and cereals and fruit that she'd cut neatly into pieces. She had a plethora of breakfast pastries (though those, at least, she'd obtained through a very early morning run to J,GoB) and was making bacon and sausages to go along with waffles, pancakes, and French toast…
It all smelled divine.
[So, so open!]

Now, had she tried this tomorrow, she would've been deliberately starting war over breakfast.
"Can I get you a plate?????????????"
no subject
His squint squinted a little more for a second before he stepped.
"Much obliged!" he said, with that characteristic brusqueness. "What's on the menu?"
no subject
"A bit of most everything," she said cheerfully, already building him a plate. "Though, like, if you want eggs, I'll have to make them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
no subject
"...remind me again," said Wayne, giving that wok a suspicious sort of squint, "on what you makin' eggs is gonna entail?"
no subject
"That depends on how you want your eggs," she said loftily. "But they all involve eggs, if that's what you're asking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
no subject
"Eggs...." he considered her warily, "and what else?"
Which wasn't very helpful, when she said it depended on what kind of eggs, and so, a second later, he said, "Sunny-side up."
So help him, if that involved anything more than eggs, a little butter and-or-oil, and some S&P....
no subject
"Soy sauce," she said cheerfully.
Sorry, Wayne.
On the bright side, it was not nearly as weird as it could be.
no subject
Wayne just expressed it differently than most.
"Hard no!" Wayne declared.
"I'll be fine without the eggs, thank you kindly."
He was just not going to ask how any of the rest of it had been prepared. A lack of inquisitiveness that was sure to make him an absolute treat for her class coming up.
no subject
"Then here's your plate," she said cheerfully, adding one extra pancake to the pile before passing it on over to him. "Like, I saw you'd signed up for my class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
She'd been so happy, Wayne!
no subject
"How could I not?" he asked. "With a description like that?"
no subject
Nina giggled.
"I mean, like, it's not wrong................."
no subject
"But it would be!" said Wayne. "If I didn't sign up fer it. My hands were tried."
Plus, he wanted to support and encourage his friend, even with all of her fruity loops cooking.
no subject
Because she was well aware this was going to cause him pain.
no subject
"Ain't no reason to get excited," he said.
Which was ironic, because there was plenty of things that'd cause all sorts of a fuss in that classroom.
no subject
"We can't all be as calm as you," Nina said airily, giggling because Wayne wasn't calm at all.
no subject
Wayne took another bite, chewed it diligently, and swallowed again completely before saying anything else.
"I take it," he started, "you'll be takin' some classes as well as teachin' one, too?"

Certain sets of characters were just going to keep asking if she kept framing it like that!
Even if this one wasn't sure he wanted to know, considering the possibilities.
no subject
"'How to Tame a Wilful Wife'," she said, after a long pause.
no subject
"I got that one, too," he said, after a long pause that didn't even have to anything to do with chewing his breakfast up properleh.
no subject
But she wasn't.
"Like, I don't know about you," Nina said, "but I don't think I'll take too kindly to the idea of being tamed.............."
no subject
Then, he grunted. "Which brings us to our next point...."
And the pause that followed was significant. It was a pause that could span the length of an ocean, realleh, and there was a squint to match.
"It's a Summer class."
And he had views about Summer classes.
Slightly conflicting views, he'd admit, because while it was thanks to a Summer class that he'd come to realize just how sweet he was on Shuri and all that, they were still Summer classes, and therefor awful.
