Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [05/11].
Wayne was still mebbe a little bit sore about what felt a little like an attempt at a breakfast coupe to him, what with Nina going and making breakfast yesterday morning, but he s'posed she could have also just been doing what she thought was nice for the new students and didn't want them to have to wait until Monday to get a good meal in their stomachs, and so he supposed he'd just have to wait it out and see if she decided to go ahead and do it every Sunday, just like he did every Monday, and if that were the case, well, then...
She could have at least picked literally any other day of the week that wasn't the one right before his breakfast day, if that were the case.
But again, it was something he wouldn't be able to determine until next week, so there was no point in fussin' about it now, especially not when he had a traditional Monday morning breakfast to start putting together, all the usual trappings and fixing, from yer pancakes and eggs to your bacon and sausage, fruit for the grease-averse, juice, coffee, so on and so forth.
He figgured, what with some people needing to be up for classes and the particular aroma ventilating structure of the dorms itself, there should be at least a few people, if not the good ol' regulars, wandering in to see what's up and to get a little fuel.
It was, after all, the most important meal of the day.
Even if the Internet might tell you that was all just marketing, Nina.

She... was not used to this place.
The siren call of breakfast lured her up one floor though she hesitated, looking in, to find that it was just one boy making a mountain of food. Now, Elli knew that boys tended to eat more than girls but, even so, she rather thought... no, she couldn't assume... perhaps he could eat all of that?
Elli dithered.

"How are ya now?" he asked, but since she was new, he elaborated on the usual greeting. "Breakfasts on Monday are communal. Come on in and help yerself, if you want, or I can fix you up a plate.
"Name's Wayne, by the way," he added, because he was a bit more comfortable and in his element than yesterday, so the social bits came just a little easier.

A little embarrassing but mostly a blessing.
"Hello, Wayne," she said smiling, slipping into the common room, a slim girl with a simple blue dress and short hair. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Elli."
She paused, looking at all of the options.
"If it's truly okay, a plate sounds delightful. How are you?"
no subject
"Goooooooooooooooooooooood moooooooooooooooooorning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina proclaimed as she swanned on in, ready for breakfast.
no subject
"Nina," he met her usual cheer with the expected nod. "How are ya now?"

And she didn't want to rain on anyone's parade.
"Good morning," she echoed, not even trying to get anywhere near that enthusiastic. "You sound like you're having a good day."
A good enough day for all of them, really.
no subject
"It's the first day of classes," she said brightly. "What's not to be excited about??????????????????? I'm Nina Argentum--------you're one of the new girls, huh?????????????"
no subject
"Yes," she admitted, since it was true, no denying that. "It's nice to meet you, Nina. I'm Elli."
Then, feeling like that wasn't good enough, she added, almost apologetically, "I don't have any classes today?"

except possibly handwavily bc the player kept MEANING to ping and then flaked, but it was the first official day of the new semester, so she and Cam were making it a bit of a point to be here."Good morning, Wayne," she greeted. Camden... well, Camden was just going to pad over and wait expectantly for a sausage or five. She was a hungry mountain cat, here!
no subject
Elli's fork dropped with a clatter as she stared in absolute terror at the enormous cat.
"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!"
The rest of her plate went flying as she fled behind a couch—as if that would save her—but it was the best she could do in terror and when they were nearest the door.
Oh Goddess, we're going to die!

This, right here, was really how one should react to a seemingly wild animal just wandering about.
"It's all right," Jules said. "She's with me."
no subject
Was that better or worse than just a random mountain lion having gotten in? She wasn't sure.
Yeah, no, Elli was perfectly content to keep cowering behind the couch, thanks.

Jules shook her head. "I'm a naturalist," she explained. "Camden is my familiar."
People around her didn't know what the first thing was, but enough seemed to understand the second to some degree, at least.
no subject
The only naturalist Elli knew was Basil and he studied plants.
"A mountain lion!" she protested.
no subject
"She'll not harm you," Jules said, trying to be reassuring. "She knows better."
no subject
Elli didn't believe that! She also couldn't believe that they allowed this because this was such a danger to everyone and Elli did the only thing she could do in these circumstances.
She burst into tears.
She was going to die before her first class!
no subject
She couldn't exactly blame her for her reaction, because Camden was very intimidating-looking, but also...
"The two of us have been here a year now," she said, still trying to be reassuring. "If she were a danger to anyone in the dorms, surely we would've been asked to leave?"
no subject
"M-Maybe it ate them," she sniffled.
no subject
Not that it looked like Elli was going to stop worrying anytime soon, but maybe it would help just a bit?
no subject
Nina liked classes, okay.

Nina grinned.
"What are you taking this semester????????????????? Anything you're looking forward to???????????????"
no subject
The second... well, the second might come in handy, which is why she was taking it, but she didn't have to like it.
no subject
Nina would've loved that!
no subject
Gifts, like hers, were different, of course.

"What's wrong with magic?????????????????????????"

Alara had her first class later that morning and she was trying not to feel too anxious about it, still she thought she might wander a bit beforehand and had ended up at the third floor common room.
She debated for a few moments but curiosity got the better of her and she spotted the different foods that were being made.
“Hey,” she said quietly, finally deciding to stop hovering at the doorway and enter the room.

"I'm Juillenne, by the way. And this is Camden," a gesture at the large mountain cat who was currently placidly working her way through a plate piled with sausages.
no subject
She paused, “I’m Alara,” she introduced herself, “it’s nice to meet both of you,”

Sure, Alara was her roomie but it was important to say that anyway.

"Wayne's a delightful cook," she said instead, because she'd rather just pretend none of that had happened. "And I'm thinking of heading into town later today! It's going well, I think." Just... she wasn't going to look at the mountain lion. "Did you want me to pick up anything for you while I'm in town?"

"Moooooooooooooorning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she chirped. "Having fun on the island so far?????????????????????"
