Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [07/06].
When Wayne checked the weather for that day (even though his days of spending most of his time out chorin' around the farm were currently on hiatus, it was a habit that had yet to die out and probably never would because Wayne was an entity held together by habit and repetition), he saw it was going to start bein' a bit hot, so his breakfast that morning tended to trend on the lighter side of things. More fruits and juices, crepes instead of pancakes for the day, that kind of thing, because he firmly believed that not only was breakfast the most important meal of the day, but it was also important to match the breakfast to the sort of day you were going to have, if you could.
So far, though, everything seemed to be cooperating, even if he did seem to be a bit clumsy this morning, getting a bit of food on his shirt as he was cookin' things up that'll definitely have to be washed out soon, or else it might stain. And that'd be a shame, since this was one of his favorite flannels...
Sure, it looked almost exactly like his complete rainbow array of various flannels, except for the color and the exact pattern if you looked closely, but it was one of the nice ones...

“Sup, cowboy?” She said talking with her mouth full. “Still feeding the masses?”

"Eleanor." He looked over after flipping a crepe, nodded. "How are ya now?"
But it was more rhetorical greeting than actual question. The actual question followed a beat later.
"Still turning down perfectly good breakfasts?"

"As for how I'm doing? Great. Just got sucked back to the bizarre place by a super powered truant officer. Just thrilled to be here. Really. Then I tried to get back in my old room but didn't have a key so I slept in the ball pit upstairs."

"Yer spare parts, bud."
He sort of missed saying that, what with Nina and Prompto not around much anymore, either.
His attention turned back to the food. "But feel free to help yerself," he offered, "if you change yer mind."

"Ohhhhh," Wayne gave the usual drawl in response, "not so bad! Fix you up a plate?"
You know, like the one in his hand that was pert'near already all fixed up?

"It's a lovely day out," she ventured. "Isn't that reason enough for it to be good?"
Sure, it was hot, but it was summer. That was to be expected.

But not without offing a "Morning" to the room as a whole on her way.

"Honestly?" she said as she glanced back at the other girl. "I'm pretty sure being judgey is just part of Wayne's genetic make up. You should have heard the rant he went on about tacos and hiking when I told him I was from L.A."
Which she did NOT pronounce as El-Ayyyy, as he seemed to insist was how she would say it.
But then her head tilted a little curiously at Eleanor, because she was now sure the face wasn't familiar.
"Are you new?"
Astrid knew she hadn't exactly been social since she got back, but she could at least recognize most people by sight now.

"Oh hey, Wayne!" he greeted with a big smile. "You'll never guess where I've been!"
no subject
"Somewhere in Japan?"
It seemed as good a guess as any, realleh, and prob'ly a better guess than most.

He looked all pleased with himself. "So what happened in the two weeks I was gone?"
He had no idea he'd been gone longer.

"Shuri." He nodded. There might have been what could be generously classified as a small smile, which would be Wayne classified as a pleased grin. "How are ya now?"
