The deck- Sunday afternoon
This all felt weird. Maeve was sure she was in for major adjustments and culture shock and it was going to be hard and take some getting used to, and that was before she ended up rooming with a cat girl who didn't think she was a cat girl, which made her at least consider that she herself might be the crazy one.
So yeah. Weird.
She got herself set up enough in her room, slept off some of the jet lag, and then decided to wander around a little and get a better feel for the place. When she found the deck, she took a seat and lit up a cigarette, figuring this was a fine enough spot. She had a book on her if she decided she wanted to stay out here a while. At least out here she didn't have to worry about anything else.

"Maeve," he nodded to her as he slipped a cigarette from the pack, leaving it hanging on his lips while he tucked the pack back into his shirt pocket and fished out his lighter. "How are ya now?"
no subject
She'd ask how he was but she literally didn't ask people how they were. They'd answer her if she did.
"How long have you been here, anyway?"
no subject
But dart lit, he tucked the lighter back into his front pocket and seemed to squint thoughtfully over the question she did ask with that first drag. "Oh, jus' 'bout over a year. Showed up....summer of '19."

"It's got its moments," he decided. "Could be worse."
He wasn't quite so itchy to go runnin' on back to the farm to quickly anymore, anywhey, though he probably wouldn't turn down the opportunity, neither.
no subject
Oh honey it got so much worse.

"That's drawin' a line in the sand," he said, "before you even get to the beach, bud."
no subject
Funny, that was all weird, but she honestly figured that was probably the extent of it. Or, again, she'd lost her mind a little, maybe.
no subject
Just to remind her of right around where his bar was actually set on all of this.
"...could be worse than that."
But not usually likeleh.

"Cleared up," he added, "obviousleh, but that's sort of how the summer went. Pert'near a different thing each week. S'calmed down a bit, since then."
It had definitely been one hell of an introduction to the place, though.

Well, she did. "First off, don't have sex with alien sharks during hot tub parties. Second, what."

Then, after that little burst of a psuedo-rant was up, Wayne's brow squinted.
"Mae or Freya?" he asked, and wondered if he was forgettin' any others, but, no, no, he was pretty sure it was just the two at the moment.
no subject
So this was apparently just a thing she was going to have to get used to, she guessed.
no subject
"Well," he said, "Mae's spare parts. And Freya's a rat, which is a bit funny, if you think about it."
He thought it was, anywhey.

She was going to love online classes on her own time.

He just figured it was in the realm of his duties as her big sibling to see if he needed to be warning her about any of 'em.

"Plus Badass Bitch Survival Guide..."
He obviously had the moose to thank for that one, but thank fuck he didn't get stuck in another one of Summer's classes fer a change!
"I think PE's a Cara and Burnsides class this time 'round, so that'll be...interesting fer ya."
Thank fuck he managed to avoid another one of their classes again this semester, too.
no subject
"Are they tough?" Because PE was definitely not a class she'd be working too hard in.

But, to be fairrrrrr.....Wayne actually had enjoyed the punching.
