Second floor common room- Saturday afternoon

Aside from the daemon thing- which hadn't been so bad- Maeve really hadn't gotten hit with the Fandom weirdness yet.

And then this morning she woke up with hooves.

So if you happened to wander into the second floor common room, you'd find a gray pony with pink hair angrily trying to do things like open the fridge with her mouth while cursing like a sailor. Maybe she could wedge her horn in there to do it, but that was attached to her head and felt like a stupid reason to need paramedics...

Oh, Maeve, Nina was still riding the high of--

Well, look at her. She was amazing as she pranced on in, pink hair flying.

"Are you, like, having technical difficulties??????????????????" she asked brightly.

Radiating glee.

"The fucking fridge door needs like a fucking pedal," Maeve said, making a face as she let it go. "And people should clean that handle."

Ew, teenager hands.

Nina blinked, tilting her head a bit as she trotted over, resisting the urge to just nose Maeve out of the way.

"I can read like this!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said brightly. "Let me open it!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Go for it," Maeve said, stepping back.

On four feet. This was so stupid.

No, no, this was amazing!

She was having so much fun! Radio then seeing Liam and then bothering Wayne on the deck and then--

Look, it was probably just for the best that Nina didn't really eat sugar. She was hyper enough.

"You do it like this, see????????????" she said, raising one of her hooves and somehow, somehow, managing to... just pull the fridge door open like normal.

"How the fuck did you do that? I tried! It didn't go that easy!"

Probably because Maeve was an angry, fumbling- and now incredulous- mess so far.

Nina considered that thoughtfully, even as she stuck her nose in the fridge.

"I think, like, it matters if you're embracing it or not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Oh good. I'm going to get nothing done this weekend then," Maeve realized.

Nina grabbed the bag of apples and tugged them out of the fridge before backing up so Maeve could get what she wanted out of there.

"I mean, like, you could just......... roll with it?????????" Nina suggested, nosing one of the apples out of her bag to eat.

"How do you roll with having hooves instead of opposable thumbs?" Maeve asked dryly, but she was honestly curious. Mostly because she had no idea how to do it.

Also as she looked into the fridge she realized just how mad she was going to be if she didn't see anything she wanted.

Nina ate her first apple.

"Like, I mean, how did you get out of your room????????????" she tried. Had Maeve just kicked it down? "I got it open???????? I can read???????? I even managed to send my brother pictures?????????"

That last one had had Foomy helping, admittedly.

"I nudged the door until it opened," Maeve answered. It took... a while. "Tell me you didn't manage to figure out selfies to send."

"Not yet," Nina admitted cheerfully. "But, like, I figure I'll have that down by tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Maeve paused.

"This wouldn't really last into tomorrow, would it?"

"It's probably going to last until the end of Sunday," she said cheerfully. "Like, if it's a weekend thing, it won't end before Monday morning!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Oh, I definitely don't like this," Maeve decided.

"Apple?????????" Nina offered, holding out one in her... hooves. "It's not that bad, really----think of it as, like, a challenge!!!!!!!!"

Maeve tried to reach out with a hoof to grab it, which... wasn't going well. So she got on her hind legs and managed to grab the apple that way, but then what?

"Life is enough of a challenge without hooves," she said.

"But this is fun," she said, even as she nosed another apple out to munch on herself. "And it isn't anything we did and it will go away????????? So why not... have fun with it?????????"

"Oh, I don't like fun," Maeve said, in the sort of tone that said she used that line a lot.

"Why not????????" Nina asked immediately.

Maeve shrugged.

And learned that ponies could shrug.

"I'd just rather be off with a book alone somewhere." Also people were often dumb and disappointing, and it was easier to forget that when you weren't around them all the time.

"Books are great," Nina agreed, not able to argue that point. "But, like, isn't reading fun too?????????"

"Not to most people," Maeve pointed out.

Which was why she used it like a shield.

"'Fun' seems to mean things where you smile to show you're having it."

"You're not wrong," Nina said thoughtfully. "But fun is really the things you enjoy, not what others see you enjoying???????"
