Second floor common room- Sunday afternoon

Alexis had spent break decidedly not here, and returned today with a perfect tan and just enough time to get her things halfway unpacked before she got a call about a delivery.

Which meant she was then having to go downstairs, argue with the delivery person, and then finally come back up with several bags of Chinese food that she was setting out in the kitchen.

"I didn't even order this," she said, not that that would stop her from trying at least some of it.

One of those bags was already missing as Five basically just appeared on the edge of a couch, digging through it to get to something palatable.

"You couldn't get scallion pancakes?"

"I didn't get anything," Alexis said. "It just... appeared."

...Much like that bag she'd set down was disappeared. Huh.

(Okay that was not the same thing at all actually.)

It might have been the same. You never knew.

"Is that normal for here?" He had an android mom who cooked for him before the whole apocalypse thing, so... legit question.

"The delivery system in this town is excessive. Order spring rolls, actually get a four course meal," she said. "I only tipped well because the bags were heavy and he was hot."

This here? This was Five's judgmental look. It was similar to his normal look because he was always being judgmental.

"What? I didn't even place the order, I was being nice."

So there.

Oh, that judgement was ramping up a lil' bit. But mostly because of the defensive response.

And he was a jerk like that.

"I'll keep an eye out for the time I'm obligated to be here." So he could just demolish some free food without having to steal it from Diego. Because all Diego had in his fridge was mustard and eggs.

"Let me guess, got shipped off to boarding school against your will?" Alexis said, judgingly.

You couldn't out-judge him, Alexis! Don't think you can! Don't you do it!

"I have a meeting with a moose about this tomorrow," he said darkly. It was going to be a death match if he had his way.

Spoiler: He would not have his way.

Arabella's free food senses were tingling. "Hey, Chinese!" she said excitedly as she entered the common room and moved directly for the food.

She hoped there were egg rolls.

"Oh, o-kay."

A lot was said in those three syllables. Namely that she knew that spoiler.

"Have some, I have no idea who ordered it," Alexis told her. Free for all!

Even if Alexis was only having a little because the last week had been excessive.

Five narrowed his eyes at her for that, silently demanding expansion on those damning syllables.

"If they wanted it, they should have showed up by now," Arabella declared, even though she had no idea if the food had been there for twenty seconds or twenty minutes. Oooh, kung pao shrimp. "Hey, Alexis. How was your Christmas, if that's a thing you do?"

"The phone still works, you can order some," Arabella suggested to the new kid. "And then we'll probably have twice as much food."

"I hope it goes well," she said brightly, silent demands be damned.

Five looked around for the landline. Because he came from a canon where only landlines existed still. But also time travel and his brother lived on the moon?

Don't ask.

"Or you could." Look at him pretending to be something other than a rabid raccoon in human form.

Five glared a little harder, jabbing his chopsticks at some dan dan noodles with a little too much force. "Right."

"Fantastic. I mean, Christmas morning was fine, I was home, but Christmas afternoon I caught a flight to Rio, and that I'll be recovering from all week," Alexis said. "How was yours?"

"Who are you, anyway?" Alexis asked.

"Number Five," he said, finding this to be tedious because everyone had to go and think it was weird. And, okay, it was weird. But it was still his name.

"I don't care if there are scallion pancakes or not," Arabella reasoned. "That's a you problem."

Giving a real warm welcome there, Arabella.

"Quiet, which was nice," Arabella said. "Nobody got kidnapped, so...a big improvement on last year. Last year was A Thing."

Five sighed and rolled his eyes and focused back on the bag that he'd stolen just for himself. Like a normal person would.

"Fine."

"You're new here, right?" Arabella asked. "You'll get the hang of it." She said this with all the wisdom of someone who had been here for one whole-ass semester already. "I'm Arabella."
