Second floor common room- Sunday afternoon

Alexis had spent break decidedly not here, and returned today with a perfect tan and just enough time to get her things halfway unpacked before she got a call about a delivery.

Which meant she was then having to go downstairs, argue with the delivery person, and then finally come back up with several bags of Chinese food that she was setting out in the kitchen.

"I didn't even order this," she said, not that that would stop her from trying at least some of it.

"Quiet, which was nice," Arabella said. "Nobody got kidnapped, so...a big improvement on last year. Last year was A Thing."

"Oh my god, were you there for the goat man kidnapping?"

Alexis had not yet remembered anyone from that.

"...goat...man?"

That would be a no.

"Oh yeah," Alexis said, waving a hand. "Last year we got kidnapped by a goat man on the way to the welcome picnic and got strung up over lava."

No big deal!

"How many kidnappings were there last year?"

"Well, we dealt with two, but one of them turned out to be an asshole who was too much of a coward to leave his wife the normal way," Arabella said, and then thought to explain, "My sister's a private investigator. That's actually a semi-normal number of kidnappings for us. But what's this about a goat man...?"

Alexis wasn't from the same reality as Arabella, so she couldn't mean the Beast...could she?

"He's called Krampus. Super gross, I wouldn't recommend him," Alexis said.

Arabella nodded. "Got that from the goat part," she agreed.

"Anyway, what's this about a private investigator? Does she work on retainer? Because like, I guarantee I will need one at least once in my lifetime," Alexis said.

"We do work on retainer," Arabella said. "But we're in another reality so...there's that. But I can send you our standard rates." The 'we' was probably weird, right? "It's a family business. I work part time when I'm home, because nobody ever expects a teenager on her phone to be taking photos to take back to their spouse."

"It's very sneaky and I approve of it," Alexis told her.

Unless of course this was ever used on her, which again, was always a possibility.

"I wouldn't do that to you," Arabella assured her. "Because you're my friend. And also because I just told you how it works so the element of surprise is gone."

"I'll take it," Alexis decided happily.
