Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [04/12].
Anyone who knew Wayne on any of these sorts of weekends knew that he, uhhhh....he didn't care much fer kids, and there was a good chance that by the time Monday rolled around, they'd all be gone, anyway, but you never really knew around here, so he was bracing himself to need to provide a few more extra pancakes and a few more eggs than usual that morning fer breakfast.
And trying not to think too much on the fact that he'd had a kid show up on a weekend like this before, but was spared that particular experience this year.
Made sense, though, if you thought about it.
What with graduation right around the corner, an' all...
[[ open breakfast is of course open! ]]

Last week had been awkward at breakfast. Belle was very much hoping this morning would not be. Even if it wasn't, she was going to make the attempt to have a pleasant morning.
"Good morning, Wayne!"
no subject
And Belle coming in without any little ones trailing behind her felt like a good sign for the day.
"Belle." He gave her a nod. "How are ya now?"
no subject
"I'm well," she said. She might even be able to make eye contact today! "And you?"
[does the new content filter on work wifi block dreamwidth? Stay tuned to find out if I'm even slower than normal today!]
no subject
"Oh," he said, pleased at least that Belle could manage a proper exchange of greeting, "not so bad! Fix you up a plate?"
no subject
"Did you enjoy the dance?" Was that a safe topic now that things were over? She hoped so.
no subject
"N'you?" he asked, plate now full and being offered out to her. "Didn't get the chance to say hi."
He'd been a little focused on his date, after all, and he'd feel bad about it except fer the fact that he didn't, not even a little.
no subject
She'd gotten to bicker with Five and that was one of her favorite hobbies. Not that she'd admit that!
no subject
"Pre- or post-spiking?"
Because it was inevitable that it would have gotten spiked, and if Wayne had to bet, he was gonna guess Belle would've preferred it pre-, but, well, you knew what they said about assumptions...
no subject
"Post, I assume." It might have been awful to begin with but she'd never know.
no subject
"Yeah," Wayne nodded at the confrimation of his suspicions. "That'll make ya spit..."
no subject
Hopefully she would remember! But then the terrible vodka had left an impression.
no subject
"Live'n'learn," he said. "Or at least get to the punchbowl before the booze does."
He honestly hadn't minded it, himself, but he was used to Letterkenny jungle juice, so it took an awful lot to get him spittin'.
no subject
Yes. Yes she did.
"Behold! I am your queen! Long may I reign! Eat of my fruits!"
She then squarely looked at Wayne with a commanding look.
"Peel me a grape, cowboy."
no subject
His Majesty was unimpressed. But he was also unsurprised, just like he hadn't been surprised that Eleanor could go an' muck up something as simple and perfect as jus' him and Shuri being Prom King'n'Queen, either.
But if that's how she was going to play it, well, then...
"Peel yer own grapes. Better yet! Leave 'em. Skins're good fer ya, anywhey."
no subject
Hey, at least Eleanor knows the word "treason".
"I will have my devoted overthrow you in an instant!" she warned Wayne. "Better do as I say King Cowboy!"
no subject
That said, he did put together a plate all the same. It weren't grapes, but, if you asked him, it was better, and he nodded to her, holding out the offering.
"Breakfast?"
no subject
"I will call an end to the hostilities. For now. So let it be written. So let it be done," She said with the all the regalilty of a human trashbag from Arizona.
no subject
"Highness," he allowed, figguring that'll help appease the royal ego at least a little bit, "how are ya now?"
no subject
Miles pushed it close with that webbing thing today on the radio.
"How about you? Did you and Shuri copulate and produce royal offspring this weekend?"
no subject
But not until after he gave Eleanor a dull squint, because she shouldn't expect any answer out of him to a question like that than the one he was about to give before flipping the next pancake.
"It's impolite to kiss'n tell."
no subject
no subject
And since there was no response Wayne could think of that wouldn't probably wind up swaying that assumption one way or another, he decided to just ignore it entirely and move right on to something else.
"Have a good time at the dance?"
no subject
Belle's curtsy in Eleanor's direction was 100% genuine. Really. Not at all sarcastic. Well. Maybe a tiny bit.
no subject
no subject
"If it wouldn't be too much trouble. "
If she'd known about his terrifying mannequin child, Belle might have felt more merciful.
no subject
She clapped her hands twice. "So let it be written! So let it be done!"
Someone had been watching Yul Brenner last weekend.
no subject
"Have there been other royal pronouncements?"
no subject
"There was one involving peeled grapes however I sense a coup may be in order to get that fulfilled," Eleanor said glaring in Wayne's direction.
no subject
Wayne didn't need beheading or anything like that. He made pancakes!
