School Grounds, Early Friday Morning
Jesse couldn't believe how much she'd let herself get away from-- herself, over the past few days. It had taken another encounter with Essej - and the memory of Trench - to wrench her back into useful shape.
Then she'd spent the evening putting information together. And... okay, she wasn't sure whether the vines on the school were just another thing or the root (heh) of the problem, but she knew they were growing, and that couldn't be good.
And so by morning she tapped into Fandom's radio network and sent out a terse message: "The school seems under siege by plants. Join me on the grounds if you want to help."
Then she turned up there, herself. And waited.
The ash kept raining down.

It was getting harder and harder to draw on Fandom's inherant magic, which didn't bode well for the island itself. Something had to be done, and it was clearly magical, which meant she was obligated as a Sorcerer Supreme (albeit one of a demonic dimension) to intervene.
At least, that's what she was telling herself as to why she was engaging in potentially stupid heroics.
"Right, let's be gardeners," she deadpanned, idly twiling her staff. "Do we have a weed-killer of some sort, or are we doing this by hand?"
