Troy knew that, technically, he should probably get to bed soon or something since he had a first period workshop tomorrow, but he'd filled his lazy Sunday with way too much sugar cereal and he was kind of too wired to sleep right now.

Maybe if he found some nice, boring PBS documentary or something on TV as he flipped through the chan--

"Oooooh! Kickpuncher!"

Sure, it was the edited-for-TV version, but Troy was still not going to complain!

Kickpuncher was not a quiet sort of film and Belle couldn't help hearing some of it as she passed by the room. Naturally, having absolutely no experience with films of this nature (or much experience with movies in general), she was curious and came into the room to see what was happening.

"What is this?" she asked after watching for a few moments.

"Kickpuncher!" said Troy, helpfully, being sure to drop his voice down and be properly dramatic about the way he said it. "His punches have thr power of kicks!"

He grinned over at Belle.

"Wanna join me? It just got started, so you haven't missed much."

Nor would she have missed much if the end credits were rolling, for that matter...

"How does that work?" Belle did not yet know that some movies you just had to accept for what they were and not think about anything about them.

"You may need to explain things," she warned, but she was already taking a seat.

Such was the power of Kickpuncher.

"Well, you see," explained Troy, easily, perhaps even excitedly, "that wasn't always the case. His punches used to just have the power of punches, but then, in the nuclear fallout of the year 2006, everything changed, and he gained thr cybernetic power to punch...like kicks!"

He then waved a dismissive hand and turned his grin toward the TV. "Don't worry. Just watch, you'll see!"

"I see," said Belle, who definitely did not. "Does he use his new punching power for good?"

Or was it just excessive amounts of punching? It looked like so very many punches.

And explosions, Belle! Don't forget the explosions! Sometimes because of the punches! Because that made sense!

"Oh, yeah, definitely," Troy assured her confidently. "His first mission is to get Mega Dope off the streets of Detroit. And, of course, face off with his ultimate enemy...Punchkicker.

"His kicks," he explained, in a more hushed tone, as of offering up a footnote, "has the power of punches."

How could anyone forget the explosions!

"But if Kickpuncher is powerful because his punches have the power of kicks," Belle said, frowning a little, "then Punchkicker would be less powerful, wouldn't he?"

She didn't know that she was overthinking this.

"Ooh!" Oh, there were some explosions!

Troy was just going to give it a moment, because, yeah, yeah. That was definitely one of the good explosions!

"Guess you'll just have to watch and find out," he then grinned, with an oh-so-ninchalant shrug, feeling terribly proud of this statement because clearly it would be all that was needed to really hook her in.

It was a good explosion! Though Belle didn't have much to compare it to.

"I suppose I will," she agreed. "You've seen this before?"

How many hundreds of times, Troy?

"A few times," said Troy, lifting his chin like it was a kind of badge of honor or something. And it was just a few! It wasn't likely to hit the hundreds until college, at least. "This is just the first one, too, there's a whole series. Wonder if they're going to do a marathon, that would be dope."

He may have regrets in his workshops tomorrow, but it would be worth it!

"How many are there? And are they all about punching? Does he develop any other powers?"

Just how many movies could you make out of that concept, anyway?

"There are...." Troy squinted his eyes a little, trying to think of as many as he could, counting off on his fingers, mouthing a few titles as he went, "five? I think? Six if you count Kicksplasher, which is a spin-off and I think there's been talk of a reboot? But, no, it's pretty sure it's kick punching all the way down, just in different locations and different bad guys."

"That seems like an awful lot of punching," Belle said dubiously. Admittedly, it was entertaining so far but that would be so many punches and explosions!
