Five had been forced to scrub paint off himself after losing at paintball to his brother's coworker due to a momentary distraction. That distraction was in the form of a just infuriating text from his brother.

"I'm going to kill him," Five decided, staring at the brick of a cell phone and willing it to give him a response.

The only reason he wasn't doing this in his room was that he didn't want to worry Dolores.

One: wizards weren't real.

Two: it would be a good distraction, yes.

"Oh, you," Five said, making a face. "No broom this time?"

"I don't just walk around with a broom all the time, you know," Harry said. "That'd be weird."

"This place is weird," Five pointed out.

"It really is," Harry agreed. "The broom only comes out if I really need to get somewhere, I guess."

"Really." Five was judging you so much right now, Five. And this was coming from the guy whose brother texted him a picture of a severed human hand.

"It's faster than public transportation," Harry deadpanned.

Okay, that point wasn't too bad, really.

Five considered it and shrugged. "There's no food here. You could order some."

Look at him delegating like a jerk.

"Or you could," Harry countered.

"Why're you staring at your phone like that?" Lydia asked, wandering in. "Is it possessed?"

Normal first thought.

It was clearly how friendship worked, right? Right?

"No," Five replied. "I don't think I will."

"What?" Wait, was that a thing that happened here? Why did this place hate him so much? "No, it's my idiot brother."

"What'd he do?" Lydia was not going to explain the possession thing, though she was a little disappointed.

Fandom was weird in a lot of ways, but generally not in the ways she was already prepared for.

"I don't know, but he sent me a picture of a severed hand." And he was pressed about not knowing the gory details!

Lydia's eyes were wide with interest. "Is it his hand?"

That seemed like the obvious first choice, right?

Five looked at the picture again. "Probably not."

Wow, he was so worried for his brother's safety.

"Weird. Have you tried calling him?" Lydia asked. "That's all we use phones for where I'm from."

"No, he's not responding because he's trying to piss me off." He was succeeding. Don't tell him that.

"Mmm." Yes, he did seem to be totally, totally achieving that goal, if that was the case. (He could also be busy, Five.) "That's a weird reason to text someone a picture of a hand."

What would be a normal reason, Lydia?

No, no. He was being a jerk.

"You don't know my family."

"Then I guess there won't be food," Harry shrugged.

"Why would it be possessed?" Harry wondered.

Not that he could say it wouldn't be, look at his life.

"Fine." It was just some friendly food based chicken.

"Okay," Harry said, taking a seat on a sofa. Casual. Not ordering anything.

"You've told me enough about them for me to guess they're weirdos," Lydia decided with a small smile, resting her chin in her hand. "Still, though. This is the brother who lives here? Maybe he'll bring it back for you."

Honestly, he might. What else were they going to do with it?
