3rd Floor Common Room, Friday Afternoon

Five had been forced to scrub paint off himself after losing at paintball to his brother's coworker due to a momentary distraction. That distraction was in the form of a just infuriating text from his brother.

"I'm going to kill him," Five decided, staring at the brick of a cell phone and willing it to give him a response.

The only reason he wasn't doing this in his room was that he didn't want to worry Dolores.

"Uh, hi."

One: wizards weren't real.

Two: it would be a good distraction, yes.

"Oh, you," Five said, making a face. "No broom this time?"

"I don't just walk around with a broom all the time, you know," Harry said. "That'd be weird."

"This place is weird," Five pointed out.

"It really is," Harry agreed. "The broom only comes out if I really need to get somewhere, I guess."

Totally normal.

"Really." Five was judging you so much right now, Five. And this was coming from the guy whose brother texted him a picture of a severed human hand.

"It's faster than public transportation," Harry deadpanned.

"Why're you staring at your phone like that?" Lydia asked, wandering in. "Is it possessed?"

Normal first thought.

"What?" Wait, was that a thing that happened here? Why did this place hate him so much? "No, it's my idiot brother."

"What'd he do?" Lydia was not going to explain the possession thing, though she was a little disappointed.

Fandom was weird in a lot of ways, but generally not in the ways she was already prepared for.

"I don't know, but he sent me a picture of a severed hand." And he was pressed about not knowing the gory details!

Lydia's eyes were wide with interest. "Is it his hand?"

That seemed like the obvious first choice, right?

Five looked at the picture again. "Probably not."

Wow, he was so worried for his brother's safety.

"Weird. Have you tried calling him?" Lydia asked. "That's all we use phones for where I'm from."

Something they had in common!

"Why would it be possessed?" Harry wondered.

Not that he could say it wouldn't be, look at his life.

"Why wouldn't it be?" Lydia countered. "It's honestly kind of strange nothing's been possessed in the time I've been here yet, with how much other weird stuff happens."

Harry frowned and had to ask, "How long have you been here?"

"Since January," Lydia replied. "How long have you been here?"

And did he somehow not know that things were very strange here? Had he missed Wednesday?

"A few weeks. Not enough for casual possession, I think."

It was a much bigger deal!

Belle walked in, saw Five, considered running back out again rather than dealing with Five and the knowledge she had hugged him 2 days ago, then decided against it. She had just as much right to be here as he did.

"You shouldn't threaten murder just because you're annoyed."

"He's my brother so I'm allowed," Five said, squinting at her and her hugging ways.

"I'm not sure that's how it works."

Belle was an only child, what did she know?

"It is." He had too many siblings, so she could have some of them.

Belle did not want any of them, thanks.

"Why are you considering fratricide?"

"Because he sent me a picture of a severed hand." And then didn't explain anything!
