Second Floor Common Room; Saturday Morning [04/09].
Even though there were definitely a few things left floating around unresolved in her head, Libby was having a much better week than last week, and was finally starting to feel a little more like herself again. So much so, in fact, that she was feeling a few pangs of homesickness again, and thought maybe some cooking in the common room might help with that. She suspected that most of the other students would probably be spending their Saturdays sleeping in, but that was a luxury she still hadn't quite gotten used to enjoying. So she was up pretty bright and early, out of habit still more than anything, checked the fridge, hit up the store, and then returned to get to work on (what else?) a breakfast casserole.
If anything, maybe the smell of it cooking might drag at least a few hungry stomachs out of bed, and, if not, well...she might venture toward the TV and give it a look. Weren't Saturday morning cartoons sort of a whole thing for worldly kids? She didn't really have that much of a pressing interest in the experience, truth be told, but it might be interesting to see what that was all supposed to be about.

"Oh hey Libby!" he said with a grin as he walked in, arm still dutifully in the sling. "How's it going?"

Libby looked over from where she was scooping up her first helping of the just-finished casserole with a smile and a small nod of approval to see the sling. "Good morning, Kurt," she greeted. "You've got great timing, I just pulled this out of the oven if you're hungry. There's definitely plenty to go around."
There always would be, really.
"How's the wrist feeling?"
no subject
"Oh another breakfast casserole? Yes, please. It smells delicious. Looks it too!" Kurt said, looking over at the large dish in front of Libby.
"Ah and the wrist is pretty good. Took a little work to get in a comfortable position last night but managed pretty good considering."

"Well," she said, considering the plate she'd just scooped out for a moment before just handing that one over to Kurt and reaching for a new plate for herself, "better a little discomfort now than a prolonged discomfort later. I'm glad to hear it's not giving you too much trouble, though."
Just enough, she hoped, that it would remind him to take better care next time!

"You've done a good job with it though," he said as he made his way over to the table to sit down. "Everything's still nice and tight and in place."

She trailed off to leave the rest to the imagination, going to the cupboard for some glasses.
"Can I get you something to drink, too?"
no subject
"Ah, if there's any orange juice that is still good in there (because again dorm fridges could be scary at times) that would be great. Danke!"
no subject
"Seems good to me!" she was pleased to report, and, hey, if it wasn't? Well, she knew some medical procedures for that, too! So she went ahead and poured a glass to bring over to Kurt before going back for her own.
"Any exciting plans for the day?" she asked.
no subject
"Just chilling out today. Might head out to the beach for a walk. Or may finally get around to writing a few emails back home to see how everyone is doing back at the Academy. What about you? Aside from cooking up breakfast for everyone."

It seemed like so big an understatement that it almost bordered on a lie.

But when she did finish and swallowed it down with a drink of her orange juice, she smiled, and it was a genuine one. "About as near as you could get," she said. "Her family moved into the house next to ours."
And, in a whirlwind of events she still couldn't believe could have happened in such a short amount of time, wound up changing...everything.

Kurt knew what it was like- he had gone from German to America and more places than he could have imagined, even in the few short yeas he had been here, before meeting Logan and the Professor.
"Back home, Storm and the Professor just want to know how my classes are going" he said with a small laugh. "Scott keeps asking for updates on my training, and Logan just wants to know what the bars are like... as if he's planning a visit or something."

But since Kurt was going to be a big part of that, she wasn't going to say anything more about it, and ignore the slight heat she felt splashed across her cheeks. "He should be glad to know there's at least two of them, then, right?" she said, but, well, she didn't know a whole lot about bars, she'd only ever been in one the one time for the Three Minute Dates thing and that had kind of been a weird accident. "Do you think everyone's pleased with how you've been doing here?"

Kurt took a few more bites of the delicious breakfast and thought about Libby's last question.
"I think they are. It's going a lot better already than it was at my last school. So, progress and all." Kurt shrugged but really it was a bigger deal than he let on. "Not having to hide behind an image-inducer all the time and not being ran out of town for being... different.... it's a new but nice experience. And I'm glad the Professor and everyone is happy with my progress so far."
no subject
"I'm sure," she said, "not having to worry so much about that and just being able to be yourself here has had a lot to do with that, too."
She wished she could say that she found it difficult to think of anyone not liking Kurt as he was, but...she didn't really have to go far back at all, even in her very limited experience, to know better than that.

They would not. That clinic was ridiculously well stocked.

"And school should definitely come first," she said, instead, with a decisive nod and a spearing of a cheese-laden tater tot with her fork, which she popped into her mouth, and grinned while she chewed.
"Hard to believe," she added a moment later, "we're actually almost finished with the semester."
Her first semester at a normal school, and she'd even managed to come out of it not too scathed!

Kurt stopped for a moment, hesitating with what he was about to say next and focused on finishing off what was left on his plate before he looked back at Libby.
"And doing it all with good friends makes it even better."
no subject
"It really does," she agreed. "Everyone here is just really so great."
Then again, she was working from a very small sample size to compare with.
