The Stables; Sunday Morning [05/15].
The rainier weather today sort of put a little bit of a damper (eh? eh??) on Graham's hopes for exploring more that day. Sure, sure, they could still explore, but having already taken one waterlogged journey when they'd arrived, he decided he didn't really want to deal with a wet Triumph all over again. So, instead, he went down to the stables to keep the old boy some company, making sure he had plenty of tasty food to munch on and a good, comfortable spot for sleeping, and then then was a lot of pets and brushing and telling Triumph all about his first week in between yawns still.
And when Triumph's coat was all as smooth and shiny as a gold coin, the two settled down, with Graham leaning his back against Triumph's soft side as he continued weaving stories for the creature, now able to use both his hands in his explanations, until, finally, comfortable as he was, exhausted as he was, and there in the comforting presence of his best friend in the entire world, he finally managed to actually fall asleep, lulled by Triumph's soft breathing and steady heart.
Overall, there were definitely worse places nap, and it would be such a nice (and long overdue) one that he'd wake up feeling very confident that Triumph had himself a good place to stay in these here stables!
[[ open stable is open and Graham is very disturbable! Work on a Sunday is always a crapshoot, though, so if I flake out, my soul has temporarily just left my body, that's all. ]]

And rather than working inside, despite the dreary weather, Kurt was outside as he practiced porting around a bit, seeing just how far he could go and how his memory of the grounds around the school was. And after a bit he found himself outside the stables. Kurt hadn't spent much time around the stables and decided to walk in and check for a moment as he stopped to catch his breath. And then his ears picked up something odd.
Sounded like.... snoring? Maybe?

But what he might have heard was a little bit of soft squeaking sounds, with the occasional chuff, as Triumph found himself growing a little restless with being a pillow and, while Graham was sleeping, felt like it might be a good time to try to rifle through the pockets of his cloak, hunting for jelly beans. As the hunt became unsuccessful, his nudging became more evident, stirring Graham awake again. "Heeeeey, there, buddy," he murmured sleepily as he pulled himself out of slumber and gave Triumph a scratch between his ears, causing him to trumpet out a few happy squeaks. "You hungry? Hold on a moment..." There was a laugh as a particularly persistent nudged caused a small bit of tickling. "I've got some seed right here. There we go."

"Ummm hi," he said, trying not to stare too much as he gave a small smile to Graham.

"Oh, zounds!" he said. "You're blue!"
There were many strange things where he was from, sure, but even blue people tended to be quite the rarity.
Triumph, for his credit, seemed indifferent. He had snacks. He was good.

"My name is Kurt. Kurt Wagner" he said hold out a hand towards Graham. "I take you are new here to the island?"

"I am new!" he confirmed enthusiastically. "Just last week! I'm Graham! Graham Cracker! And this," he gestured toward the large rodent snuffling around for errant seeds, "is Triumph the Third! It's nice to meet you, Kurt!"

He glanced over at Triumph and gave a big grin. "And he is so cool! Is he like your pet or something?"
no subject
More popular than he was, he imagined, but that was only to be expected.
"Soooo," he then turned his attention to Kurt with a thoughtful tilt of his head, "can I ask why you missed the first week? Was it some kind of quest? Were you cursed? My roommate has a sleeping curse, but I think everyone did last week, no one got much of it, it sounds like, except him, he can sleep through just about anything."

Evidently its a fairly normal thing for people to turn into animals for a time here on the island... "Kurt gave a small shrug. "But it's definitely a first for me."
