Second Floor Common Room- Saturday Morning

Kurt was in a baking mood.... the cookies the other day had really got him missing the times he would make Christmas cookies back home. That meant Kut was rummaging around the cabinets in the common room that morning, trying to take stock of what was there on hand if he wanted to make those cookies after all. It was looking pretty good and there were only a few things he might have to get depending on what he decided to go with. So, if anyone was walking around the floor they might have heard some humming and singing coming from the kitchen area.

"That may be so," Graham agreed with a chuckle, deciding to detour a little and come in to the common room, maybe to see if he could help Kurt out or just to say hi for a bit, "but I'm pretty sure with how much everyone around here does bake, there's probably no shortage of supplies!"

And then, after hearing it, he amended, "Or maybe that's why there could be a shortage! 'Cause we've used them all up!

"What were you going to bake?" he asked, and then, gaining a knowing grin and waggling his eyebrows at Kurt a little, ventured, "those dinosaur cooking with Libby?"

"Ah, was at least thinking of seeing what I might need to still get from the store" Kurt said, feeling his face heat up a bit. "Haven't had a chance to ask Libby about any specific timing or anything yet."

There was a moment's pause as that nervous uncertainty crept back in.

"I know shes busy with classes and her work at the clinic. I... I don't want to bother her with something as silly as cookies if she's too busy."

"Kurt." Graham's face was suddenly quite serious, as he looked at the other boy imploringly, and even went to put a hand on Kurt's shoulder so that he could truly feel the weight of this next statement.

"Cookies are never something silly."

But he did grin, a little, at the end there.

"Ah yes. It's more just...." Kurt started then stopped and gave a small grin to his friend in return. "Nevermind. You're right. Cookies are definitely nothing to scoff at." Never mind that wasn't quite what Kurt had been focusing on just then.

"Besides," Graham added, the grin broadening quite a bit as his shoulders squared with the confidence he had in this next statement, "take it from me! The stomach? Is almost always an effective way to someone's heart!"

Kurt gave a small smile and nod. "I just hope she likes whatever I decide to make next. Not that I want to impress her or anything..." because of course not!

Despite himself, Graham had to chuckle at that, looking at Kurt thoughtfully for a moment. Trying to decide whether or not to say what he was thinking, or just let his friend off the hook.

And he decided to go with the former.

"I don't really think yoi'd have to," he offered. "She seems pretty impressed already."

And there was that sudden rush of heat spreading over his face again, all the way to the tips of his pointed ears. He looked at Graham and then dropped his gaze slightly. "You... you really think so?"

It was still hard for Kurt to believe at times that people actually liked him and that he could have friends who wouldn't end up betraying him or leaving for one reason or another. He knew Libby wouldn't do that, but he was still worried he would say or do something to mess it all up. This all was so new to him that he really had no idea what he was doing.

"The DM sees aaaaa~alll~," Graham intoned, in a deep, authoritative voice, pulling himself importantly as his hands swept in the air in front of him, fingers waggling to enhance the effect.

And that included the way Libby's eyes seemed to light up every time Kurt talked to her at the table, how raptly she seemed to hang onto every second of his turns. Of course, he'd noticed she was very attentive player in general, but there was something different in it, when it was Kurt.

Or maybe he just noticed it because he recognized himself on it, too, imagining that was probably what he was like whenever Charlie was in the room.

Kurt was just going to give a shy grin at that. Maybe he would be able to stop feeling so shy around Libby... eventually.

Graham nodded, feeling confident that his little pep talk had been successful, and gave Kurt an encouraging grin back.

"And," he added, "I can see where she's coming from. You're a very impressive guy, Kurt!"

Ha-ha! Take that! Surprise second pep talk, baby!!

Aaaaaand cue the shy smile and awkward rub of the head. "Aaaah thanks, Graham. You are pretty impressive yourself! I mean, talking to animals is an ability I know I would love to have!" Kurt gave a glance to his friend and smiled. "And you are a good friend too, which is pretty major itself!"
