Second Floor Common Room- Saturday Morning

Kurt was in a baking mood.... the cookies the other day had really got him missing the times he would make Christmas cookies back home. That meant Kut was rummaging around the cabinets in the common room that morning, trying to take stock of what was there on hand if he wanted to make those cookies after all. It was looking pretty good and there were only a few things he might have to get depending on what he decided to go with. So, if anyone was walking around the floor they might have heard some humming and singing coming from the kitchen area.

"I don't want to say too much here," Graham gave Belle a very meaningful look, "because of, well..." He not-so-subtly nudged his head and eyebrows in Kurt's general direction, and then lifted his hands up and wiggled his fingers on his best pantomime of a squirrel, "but...."

He looked dramatically to the left. Then dramatically to the right. Then leaned in and lowered his voice as he revealed, "it was not an incidental encounter."

"Oh, intrigue," Belle said, clearly pleased. "Do let me know how it all turns out?"

"Exactly!" said Graham, sounding quite pleased and proud himself. "And I will. I honestly can't wait to see what happens next, either! But you knoooooow...the invitation still stands, Belle if you want to witness it in action rather than hearing about it secondhand."

"You're right," Belle agreed. "I really ought to see how it all works. Although wouldn't it be difficult to come in in the middle? Or could I just observe to start?"

"You could just observe at first," Graham confirmed with a nod, "or I could weave you into the story somehow, too. For example, if you wanted to jump in and give it a try now, you could be one of the attacking bandits! Or you could be a traveler that stumbled upon the fray and decided to help! Or you could have been a survivor of the carriage crash before them, having hid when the carriage was looted and they discover you if they examine it closer! There's lots of ways to bring a new character in!"

"Oh, I hadn't thought of any of those."

That was, perhaps, why Graham ran the game and Belle hadn't even gone near it yet. "Perhaps this Friday? It might be a good way to end this week's exams!"

Sweet summer children had no idea what the week had in store for them, did they?

Graham had spent a lot of time making adventures and stories with all the woodland creatures of Llewdor instead of having actual friends, so he had experience.

"I'd love to have you come by next Friday! It'll be a great way to celebrate!"

No. No, they certainly did not.

"And you'll get to enjoy all the great food we have, too!"

"I do enjoy food," Belle said. "Should I bring something to share?"

Look, the planning was good. They had no idea it would lead to nothing but...whatever was coming.

"Something to share is always welcome!" Graham assured her, already eager to what amazing new snack paths were about to definitely open up for him. "Guillermo always brings empanadas and pies, and Libby brings the healthy snacks. Jo gets these really scrumptious chocolates from home, and Kurt's always making something different and new! Vi usually has things like chips and other packaged snacks covered, too, or sometimes more of what's showing up all around the island."

"I still haven't learned to properly make anything," Belle warned. "But I'll think of something to contribute."

It simply would not do to show up empty-handed!

"I can't really make anything except choco-chip pancakes," Graham offered, in reassuring solidarity. "I usually just provide the pizza and pop."

And Doritos! They were important!

"But you make those pancakes very well," Belle assured him. "I quite enjoy them. Perhaps I'll bring some sort of candy?"

That was festive!
