Second Floor Common Room, Tuesday Afternoon
Amicia did not leave her room often. She knew she ought to; that in some ways the forests outside called to her, begging her to get as lost in them as she had in the Pyrenees. But coming here had been one more shock to her already crumbled sense of the world, and so she spent most of her time in her room.
But even Amicia de Rune needed to eat, from time to time.
And thus, grudgingly, she slunk out of her room in the afternoon to once again expose herself to the strange foodstuffs in the common area. Now there she stood, rifling through cupboards in search of something to eat that looked familiar.
She would even settle for an apple.

So she made herself take a break, and headed down to the common room to poke around the kitchen a little. Depending on what was there, maybe a trip to the store might not be a bad idea, either, and cook up something to share.
"Oh!" she remarked, not only in seeing someone else there, but someone she didn't recognize. "Hello! Are you looking for lunch, too?"

Perhaps she should ask for something. But what?

"Finding anything good?" she wondered. "I was thinking of seeing what we had here already, but sometimes it can be really hit and miss.
"I'm Libby, by the way," she added, with a smile. "I don't think we've met?"

She gestured at the cabinets. "Bread?"

Libby went over to the cabinet in question, swung open the door, and stopped in her tracks to frown at it. Shifted a few things around. Frowned again and settled back.
"Huh," she said. "Guess not. It's usually kept here, but I guess no one's gone shopping for a while."
Just to make sure, though, she checked the cabinet next to it, too, in case anyone put it there instead.

Still, she let out a sigh that seemed to soak through her entire body. She had barely had the energy to go looking for the one thing she barely wanted to eat. Now she had nothing.
"Oh," she said. "C'est comme ça."

"I'm sorry?" she asked, figuring she must have just missed it, because, while it sounded a little familiar, she didn't quite process what Amicia had said.

One of these days, Libby would remember to look for Gray when she entered the common room.
Today was definitely not that day.
"Hey, Gray." She gave a small wave back. "Good morning?"

Including her first rejection of a suitor in defiance of everything she was raised to believe! Which was also a pretty big deal, but not something she was going to probably mention.

"Oh, hey," Gray said as he scrubbed one hand over his face to wake himself up further. She was in one of his classes, come on, neurons, fire..."Amicia, right?"
no subject
She hadn't seen him.

See? What was the word for 'see'?

Ah, niceties. She still remembered them.

...hopefully you liked it strong because Clare made it strong enough to stand a spoon up in, metaphorically speaking.
"//Milk or sugar//?" she asked in French.
