Second Floor Common Room, Tuesday Afternoon

Amicia did not leave her room often. She knew she ought to; that in some ways the forests outside called to her, begging her to get as lost in them as she had in the Pyrenees. But coming here had been one more shock to her already crumbled sense of the world, and so she spent most of her time in her room.

But even Amicia de Rune needed to eat, from time to time.

And thus, grudgingly, she slunk out of her room in the afternoon to once again expose herself to the strange foodstuffs in the common area. Now there she stood, rifling through cupboards in search of something to eat that looked familiar.

She would even settle for an apple.

Even though she had plenty of work to do for her nursing study program, Libby had to admit, it was a little strange, not having nearly as many classes as she was used to anymore. It sometimes made the studying seem a little like a slog, even if she could do it mostly from the comfort of her own room. And she needed to eat something, too; that's probably why her brain was starting to feel so sluggish reading over the symptoms of various illnesses and diseases.

So she made herself take a break, and headed down to the common room to poke around the kitchen a little. Depending on what was there, maybe a trip to the store might not be a bad idea, either, and cook up something to share.

"Oh!" she remarked, not only in seeing someone else there, but someone she didn't recognize. "Hello! Are you looking for lunch, too?"

Libby tilted her head a little curiously, at both the other girl and the quest through the cabinets she seemed to be on, before moving in a little closer for a bit of a peek herself.

"Finding anything good?" she wondered. "I was thinking of seeing what we had here already, but sometimes it can be really hit and miss.

"I'm Libby, by the way," she added, with a smile. "I don't think we've met?"

"It's nice to meet you, Amicia," Libby said, first and foremost with a nod and a smile. "What a pretty name. And, yeah, the bread is usually kept right over--"

Libby went over to the cabinet in question, swung open the door, and stopped in her tracks to frown at it. Shifted a few things around. Frowned again and settled back.

"Huh," she said. "Guess not. It's usually kept here, but I guess no one's gone shopping for a while."

Just to make sure, though, she checked the cabinet next to it, too, in case anyone put it there instead.

That sigh pulled a worried frown out from the very depths of Libby's nurturing soul, and the words themselves just deepened it.

"I'm sorry?" she asked, figuring she must have just missed it, because, while it sounded a little familiar, she didn't quite process what Amicia had said.

"Hey, Libby!" Gray said from where he had managed to drag himself from the floor into a chair. That was about all he was up for right now, it seemed, but he mustered the energy to give Libby a little wave to go with his greeting.

"Oh!"

One of these days, Libby would remember to look for Gray when she entered the common room.

Today was definitely not that day.

"Hey, Gray." She gave a small wave back. "Good morning?"

Happened to him all the time. "Is it still morning?" Gray asked hopefully.

"It's technically afternoon," Libby informed him, with an apologetic smile. "But sometimes 'good morning' is more of a feeling than a time of the day. Did you have a good nap?"
napking: (aw shucks)

[personal profile] napking 2023-01-17 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
That explained why his neck felt like that. "That's very true," Gray and his utter lack of anything resembling a regular sleep schedule agreed. "I fell asleep in the floor." So that answered that. "Did you have a good winter break?"

"I did," Libby confirmed with a nod and a smile. "Did you? It was the Little's first real big Christmas celebration, so that was a lot of fun, and I also had my first New Years Eve party, so it was filled with all sorts of firsts!"

Including her first rejection of a suitor in defiance of everything she was raised to believe! Which was also a pretty big deal, but not something she was going to probably mention.

That haphazard pile of clothes beside one of the chairs (he'd almost made it!) stirred and unfolded itself into a sleepy Nephilim.

"Oh, hey," Gray said as he scrubbed one hand over his face to wake himself up further. She was in one of his classes, come on, neurons, fire..."Amicia, right?"

"Sorry," Gray said. "I was just--asleep." He yawned as if to underscore this. "It's...a thing that happens."

"That also happens," Gray agreed as he hauled himself up and landed actually in the chair this time. It was the little victories. "At least you didn't sit on me." That would've been tricky, with him being in the floor, but he didn't rule it out.

"Très bon!" Clare said. "I will be très bon-ner once I get a cup of tea. Would you like one too?"

Tea was the solution to all things, Amicia!

...hopefully you liked it strong because Clare made it strong enough to stand a spoon up in, metaphorically speaking.

"//Milk or sugar//?" she asked in French.
